Curious if anyone on this board has made a walkthrough that is on gamefaqs.com or some other site? If so, what was your contribution?
I'm amazed at how good a lot of these walkthroughs are. I can only imagine the amount of time it takes to create the better ones.
Has anyone made a walkthrough that is on gamefaqs.com?

I am just as amazed as you are....
I can't there are so many people out there that would put so much time into writing so many detailed walkthroughs out there. Complete a game is long enough (usually 20 hours plus).
Those that write walkthrough would at least play the game twice, once for themselves, and once to re-walk the game to write the FAQ , because I don't think they have it in their head everything they did.
But here we are talking at least 2 times!
Some of those people clearly played the game many many many times because they got all the secret levels, bonuses, tips, and perfect strategies to complete a game. They don't miss out on anything!!!
Game publishers should at least reward those people with free games or something. Its too much dedication.
I can imagine a group of people creating 1 walkthrough, with each person doing a level, but not one person doing the whole thing

I have 3 of them up on the site; written late middle school and in high school. Probably not written or organized the best but they have everything you need in them

I contributed to a walkthrough for a GBC game - Cardcaptor Sakura: Tomoeda Shougakkou Daiundokai. I translated some katakana for the menus in the game, and the author put in my e-mail address (the one I had back in '02-03) in the credits for the walkthrough.

I once contributed to one, but it wasn't my walkthrough. There were key gameplay elements that the writer was glossing over or making mistakes about and it was annoying me, but I was very polite in pointing them out and he graciously credited me in the faq. I honestly can't even remember what game it was now. I think it was a Marvel Ultimate Alliance game

GameFAQs has bounties as incentives to help get some of them written, mostly Amazon.com gift certificates in the $10-60 range from what I remember. Not the best usage of your time if you're looking to earn some cash, but if you enjoy a game and know it well enough I can see how that might help encourage a few folks. I especially think it's a good fit for younger people who are capable writers, happen to have a few games, love playing them, and have a more or less limited income (or are just unable/not allowed to get a job).
Funnily enough, my brother's FAQs helped him get a bit of prestige as a writer/contributer, which led to him working for a few game journalism sites. And those in turn contributed to his portfolio, which eventually landed him a great job with Gearbox Software. So it pays off to be dedicated and proud of your work, even if it's just a "silly" game FAQ!

I've never done a full walkthrough.
However, I do have a character specific faq up for Luigi in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Its under the name Diocleziano, if anyone looks it up.
