Re: Question about Genesis carts/save batteries
I'm aware :p my father's an electronics technician of 20+ years so I'll probably either get him to do it or show me.

What about Megadrive games? The label goes right over both halves of plastic.

Re: Question about Genesis carts/save batteries
On Japanese MD games at least the problem is that the screws are under the label on the back of the cart. If you get those out you can carefully pry up the halves from the plug side enough to get the board out without messing up the front label too much across the top.Satoshi_Matrix wrote:What about Megadrive games? As for the Gen batteries, same deal as NES and SNES carts. Easy to replace if you have tabbed batteries. Otherwise you're going to have to use a holder or a wired laptop battery. I have just gotten my batteries in but have not figured out prices yet as I plan to offer replacement services.

Actually, a lot of later carts used flash chips inside most notably with Sonic 3's RAMTRON chip.emwearz wrote:The only company that I am aware of that didnt use batteries for saves was EA.

Flash memory inside Sonic 3? Wow, I wish alot of other carts were like that. It'd be quite helpful.

Re: Question about Genesis carts/save batteries
Finally bought myself a new plug and play megadrive/genesis that takes the old cartridges (great buy truly) to play a copy of landstalker I hunted down at Gamestraders, but had this same problem, the battery save seems to not work properly, I cant even delete the old save files or copy them to other slots, really disappointed, but the thing has 15 other games built in, which is okay plus I can play other carts when I find em which is really good, bought it at KMart. So I can change the battery eh?? What sort of battery is in there? I have no idea about such things.
