Luckiest moment in videogames?

Post by TehOctoNinja »

I was just playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and managed to find two "Crissaegrim"s within 10 seconds of each other. I even did a little dance.

Does anyone else have any memorable moments of being lucky in videogames?

I once spawned right next to a wand of wishing on the first level of Nethack. That was the first time I had assembled even part of an ascension kit. Got farther than I ever did before, don't remember how I finally died. I'm sure it was YASD. Took me another couple years to actually beat it.

Way back before any of the WoW expansions, I was fishing on the coast sorta near where the scarred area and portal (before it opened) and got a regular pearl and a black pearl within minutes of each other. It was one of maybe 5 pearls and the only black pearl I got in the 6 months or so I was playing. I'm sure I've had some other lucky moments, but that's the only one coming to mind at the moment.

I've beat a few bosses in platformers when I was down to one unit of health or on my last life. Dracula in Castlevania, and more recently Blademan in Mega Man 10 come to mind.

Don't know if that's really luck or not, but still felt pretty cool. :)

I cant think of any of mine, but my sister beat gary (after the elite four) in pokemon blue on her last living pokemon, by using struggle (the move your pokemon can only use when you run out of pp for your 4 moves) that was epic

When the Darkmoon Faire patch was on the horizon I was farming Vibrant Plumes off the vultures in Deadwind Pass (this was before we discovered that Blizzard capped things so you could only turn in the highest drop at an unlimited rate). Midway through I got my first and only world drop purple: a Krol Blade. Sold it for 800g after the auction cut and bought my epic mount.

Not really a game. There is this weird chatroom type thing but in a retro style called Habbo. Me and my friends were interested in the furniture and would scam the shit out of people. One day I looked in my inventory and there was a gift from a moderator and was some gold statue and only 100 were given away or something. Sold it for a shit-ton of virtual money. Then I got hacked and everything was gone like a week later :(.

That reminds me of the brilliant scams we would pull off. Good times.

Mine would have to be a couple of weeks ago when I stumbled across a copy of Little Samson for the NES at a local second hand media store. The price I paid? $3 plus tax.

When I did 3v3 arena as my shaman, we beat a ranked 1 arena team.... RNG ftw.. Needless to say, we didn't beat them again..

I also rolled highest on a black drake in a pug.. Won that sucker and used it as my main flying mount... :P

I remember when I was doing a ladder clan match in UT2k4 the other guys wanted to pic this cheese custom map that was small as hell... I decided to crouch while shooting and ended up getting 40 kills for the team and we won on a map we had a clear disadvantage on! And this was crucial, because it was a 5-4 and they decided that would be the last map so they could force a tie.. But I figured that they couldn't hit me if I was crouching and it threw them off while I was able to kill them with relative ease, it ended up being the clinching match!!! I'll say this, the other guys were pretty PO'd but they really couldn't complain I just played that strategy to my advantage, but it was spur of the moment so I still think it was pretty lucky to this day..
