SegaSonic the Hedgehog trackball problem

Post by jfe2 »

I need some help figuring out a proper way to play the arcade game, SegaSonic the Hedgehog. I really want to play it but I don't have a trackball of any sort, and I use MAME on a modded X-Box. The joystick works in place of the trackball, but there's no way to get any speed going, so the game is essentially unplayable. Is there a way to use a trackball with a modded X-Box, or am I grasping for straws here? The game looks excellent, and its a shame that it was never ported to any consoles in the states.

Use an X-Arcade trackball controller.

Or you know, go to your local Goodwill and pick up an old trackball mouse for MAME.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

You know, I didn't even think about the X-Arcade trackball! I'll have to save up the cash for one at this point though, cause if I 'm gonna get one, I'm going all out and getting the two player version with the trackball built into the middle... too bad they don't make them with spinners for Tempest!

waste of time.

There is no trackball support in MAMEoX. The only way to use a trackball in MAMEoX is with the "SmartJoy Frag" for Xbox, but it only simulates mouse movements as analog stick movements, it does not work like a trackball and is a real hassle to use.
So yeah basically just go get a used trackball for like 3 bucks and play mame on your pc. Alternatively you could boot windows 95 on your xbox hook up a usb trackball and then run mame but you couldnt

...you know he's running MAME on an oXbox, right? He can't just pick up a Track Man and use it for MAME.

Apparently CoinOps supports trackball control now. I haven't tried it, but it's worth a shot.

The sentences are separated by a break for a reason.

X-Arcade for Xbox.

Trackball for PC.
