Ok, I don't hear much talk about this game. When I heard about it, I was interested, but didn't know how it'd be. I just finished the demo, and holy shoot am I craving more.
Controls feel good, maybe needs a little tightening, but overall, awesome. I also like the fact Monkey moves really fast, like he's supposed to. Gives you a great feel.
What really astounded me was at the end of the demo, when you come into contact with that girl. The team said they were gonna give the characters unique personalities, but I'll hope when you see the end of the demo, you'll know what I mean.
Probably a first day buy for me.

I downloaded it but haven't gotten around to playing yet. I'll give my 2 cents after playing which will probably be tomorrow.

Re: Anyone play the Enslaved demo?
I really liked it. I have played many games in which I never game a crap about the player character. In this brief demo, I found myself aligning with "Monkey". He just wanted to get out of that damn slave ship and that woman wouldn't help him! Also, I was pleasantly surprised by the parts when he almost fell off the ship but he had to crawl up the wings as they were falling apart. I wish it had been longer. I really wanted to play around in overgrown NYC. Grand Central looked pretty neat. If I had stacks of cash, I'd buy it. Right now I only have money for Castlevania.

Ever since seeing the trailer and learning the story details for it I can't stop comparing it to a modern version of what Berzerk would translate to as an FPS.

Did you guys like the emotions coming from that girl? I forgot her name, but when she's just running away from you, I didn't see anything special. But when she came face to face with Monkey, it was just...wow. I saw something that was very close to the realistic emotion of fear. She actually looked scared, and the voice acting matched up great with it. Marked it, 13 more days till launch day.

Re: Anyone play the Enslaved demo?
To be honest I wasn't too impressed with it; however I didn't like the Heavenly Sword demo and I ended up liking the full game so I'll give the full version a shot when it comes out.
The controls felt too much like Heavenly Sword's, they worked but they had this weird loose feeling to them; especially the running. I did think the dodging was well done and the graphics were very good; despite being very, very similar to Heavenly Sword's in terms of style (well, for character design, not for anything else of course). The camera was also kinda wonky in some places, like how when I used the charge up attack and it jumped to behind Monkey only to jump back away again.
I did think the "platforming" was pretty weak; it felt scripted and yet loose at the same time. Also I didn't care for Monkey, he came off as a generic tough guy, especially because of his voice (gruff and tough is kinda weak for me now).
Finally the demo was just too short considering how big the file was; I think it took longer for me to download it then it did for me to play it.
Still like I said, I remember hating the Heavenly Sword demo and I did enjoy the full game so maybe I just have bad luck with Ninja Theory demos. So I will definitely be renting Enslaved when it comes out but I still feel that the demo was a let down, at least for me.

Tried it and didn't care much for it. Will probably pick it up later when it's dirt cheap in a couple of months.
Re: Anyone play the Enslaved demo?
Well after playing I must say the controls were somewhat poor (As has been pointed out). By themselves the controls would have gotten the job done just fine but when combined with the bad camera I had a bit more frustration than I would have preferred. Also, I'm not a big fan of the platforming. It was kind of like Uncharted 2 where supposedly one of the games biggest draws in being able to climb on stuff but when you actually play all the climbing spots are regulated to be very linear and only ever appear when you absolutely must use platforming to progress through the games level. It doesn't offer the freedom that I associate with platforming/climbing in games. Why can't anyone get it as good as Prince of Persia managed it? That game came out long before Enslaved, Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, inFamous or any other of these modern day parkour simulators and it had amazing platforming. It even mixed the climbing and jumping into the combat with the way the Prince could jump off of walls to stab an enemy or vault over one of the many sand monsters to slice them in the back.
Whatever. Regardless I was extremely impressed by the setting and story tidbits I saw. Also the combat was quite fun. It might not be a day one buy for me but I've definitely gotten interested.

Re: Anyone play the Enslaved demo?
You are talking about the SoT trilogy right? Because the newest PoP games have been pretty weak, which brings me to my next question.
Did anyone else feel like this game is pretty similar to The Prince and Elika? Lush greens, protagonists that travel together and get to know each other on the way, and platforming.
What I'm worried about is if this game'll let me down. I reserved and bought Prince and Elika the first day it came out, 65 bucks, and I was pretty disappointed with the game despite all my excitement. I'm getting pretty revved up for this one too, but what if the final product will disappoint me just like PoP did.

Sorry, I should have clarified. I was talking about the Sands of Time trilogy. I haven't played the new version yet with Elika. Though from what I've seen of it I definitely understand the connections you're making. They actually look pretty similar gameplay wise.Veno wrote:You are talking about the SoT trilogy right?
