Well that's because Touhou actually is nothing but doujin, literally.

The con we went to was Animazement which is the one big con that hits NC each year. I've never been to a smaller local con, though I did go to Momocon earlier this year which is free admission and takes place at Georgia Tech (Across the street from the TBS/Williams Street Adult Swim building!), but that's hardly a small or local con per-se. The area where me and Dr. Cirno live is pretty small and not a lot goes down here.
