Speaking of Zero, I think anyone who says anything after MMX 3 was bad is crazy. Mega Man X 4 is my favorite of the series, all because of playable Zero and he made me enjoy MMX 5 too. I'll take a badass looking robot with cape-like hair and a FREAKING LIGHT SABRE over Mega Man X and his pea shooter any day. Everything after MMX 5 was hit and miss though
Did you play Mega Man Zero or ZX or whatever? They always looked good, but I never tried them out... I think one series was for the GBA and the other was on the DS. I know Zero was the main character in those. He looked odd to me though.
Zero looks different in MMZ because [SPOILER!] he was put in a different body in events that weren't portrayed in any of the games.

Other than the shitty plot, the MMZ games are pretty cool, though they do feel awkward at first.

I may have to look into them soon. Mega Man X was the game that got me into Mega Man games when I was younger. I played that game constantly! Zero was so badass in that game, I always wondered why he wasn't playable. Also, the Boba Fett looking enemy was pretty cool too. VILE FTW!

He was playable in X3-X8.

You know, Vile's Japanese name (Vava) sounds kind of like Boba in pronunciation.

I only played the first X game. I did watch my friend play X2 for a bit at his house when it first came out, but can't remember much about it. I should look into picking up that compilation for the PS2 if the other games are decent. :)

I don't get it when people say Megaman and Bass is the hardest. It is not the first time I see that, either.
Compared to MM1 and MM2 (the ones I played), Megaman and Bass seemed rather tame in comparison. I played M&B in the GBA port - did they tone down the difficulty (I don't think so, in fact the resolution difference may have made it slightly worse)?

I have played Mega Man Zero, the first one. I thought it was cool, but I never did like Zero's new look. One cool thing about the MMZ games to me is that it seems like they've removed the restrictions on using Zero's buster, finally proving that he was every bit the warrior that X was, if not better(given his mastery over melee weapons, and not having armors and upgrades from Light to help him, I'd say he was the better warrior). One of my favorite lines of all time was I think from Megaman X 5 where Zero tells a Dr. Light hologram, "I don't need any power ups"

I played Mega Man and Bass, didn't seem TOO hard to me. I think the original Mega Man may still be the hardest I've played but it's hard to say. All those original Mega Man games just sort of blend together in my memory. Megaman 9 really kicked my ass though. However, that may be partially due to me not having much enthusiasm for it as I was hoping Capcom would do something more than just another 8-bit Mega Man game. I lost interest in it and never even finished it. I still haven't tried MM 10 yet, as I just can't seem to find a reason to care.

I'm interested in trying the rest of the Megaman Zero series though(beyond the first one, which I finished)and I would be excited if Capcom made another Mega Man X game and gave me back "classic" Zero. Maverick Hunter X on the PSP was really good

I made it to Wily's second form today on Mega Man 9. By the time I got to him, I had used up all of my E-Tanks... so I decided to go back and farm screws in order to buy power ups. At this point I have maxed out all of my power ups and have full lives, so later on tonight I'm going to try again and I should be able to beat it no problem.
