Job Hunting Sucks
Re: Job Hunting Sucks
Have you tried looking for work in Wimberly? I'm not that familiar with your field but I have had a lot of friends and friend-of-friends who worked in photography / being creative find work there. It'd be a bit of a commute (probably more than half an hour) but it's a very artsy community that has a LOT of money to throw around.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I dunno, but if you get a job that you're overqualified in, aren't you allowed to just not mention degrees/skills you have? It may be ethically wrong, but if you know you're going to stick around, it's not really that bad. Is it legal?

Ive ran into this too. In my experience it means they think you will bolt the second you get a better opportunity.AppleQueso wrote:I've never understood the concept of being "over-qualified"
After i finished my master's degree i couldn't find teaching jobs for over a year and when i applied for anything I couldn't get jobs outside academics with my credentials.
I had a few flat out ask me in the interview, "why are you applying for this job when your a teacher?"
Course I couldn't just tell them, "I need money and I don't care how i get it at this point".
The whole hiring process is BS most of the time anyway. People get jobs more often by connections and circumstance.
Its a cruel game that we all get to play, well except for the self employed.

I've been trying to find a job ever since I got out of High School (more than a year ago). I can't get shit 'round here. I'm aparrently too far away. "Oh, you live in CousinFuck, Tennessee? Sorry, we need someone in Clarksville/Nashville/other city that you're about 30 miles away from." Also, there's no openings in my immediate area. I wish I was "over qualified" for everything, at least I can pretend that I'm superior to everyone.
