good call.

Don't get me wrong, I'd nab one as a decoration if I saw one cheap enough.

Got it for 10 Bucks, which seemed fair enough to me. They were also selling modified Game Boys with backlit screens, but the price was totally unfair at over 100 Bucks. Still, they were cool looking. :D

Exactly 199 Bucks. I know, that seems ridiculous, but I just couldn't resist. Heh.

An OCD gamers tale
I saw PS2 Ape Escape Pumped Primed at Gamestop last week on the way to another Gamestop to buy Billy Hatcher, the store which has been my lucky CIB source. I passed on it even though it had the original cover and memory card holder case since there was no manual. I have the PSX Ape Escape, PS2 Ape Escape 2 and 3, never bought Pumped because of the cel-shaded cartoon graphics compared to other versions. I found out Pumped is a party type of gameplay. Well the bug hit me this morning to find a complete version to complete my PSX-PS2 Ape Escape collection. A search showed eight stores under fifty miles with four under fifteen miles. The game is an older 2004 title and only costs $3.99, so slim chance of finding a complete version. Closest store only had a generic cover. Associate called other stores with only a disc in stock result. Knowing that the under five dollar games manuals, covers and cases get tossed, decided to go for a drive. After third gamestop, including a store associate phone call to fifth store (initially 31 miles, now 16 miles away) to no avail, I conceded and drove back to the original fourth Gamestop near my lucky CIB Gamestop (sixth).

Only stupid question is the one not asked
Arrived back at the fourth Gamestop that at least had cover and original case from last week's visit. Grabbed the game, determined now to buy after all that driving. Couple layers of stickers underneath tells me this game has been here for a while. Started browsing other titles. turns out none of the cases had manuals, surprise! Maybe this outlet used to be EB Games which notoriously kept manuals with the discs behind the counter. Sure enough a crisp brand new manual was in the drawer with the game disc. This one also had a warranty card still attached, looks like the only time removed from the case. With the edge card came out to only $3.59. I would've bought the game the first time had I known the manuals were stashed behind the counter!

Lesson learned
Well, the driving around the city, er county turned out to be a good thing. In addition to my lucky low volume CIB store, I now have gained an even better CIB source! Since this particular store has manuals kept behind the counter, a better chance of pristine condition. Just have to look at titles that have an original cover and case, a good chance for the manual too. Actually, I wish all Gamestops kept the manuals with the game discs in the drawers.

I normally like giving praise to the associate in the survey. I'll pass here so my CIB sources won't be jeopardized. Knowing corporate, they would question why this Gamestop is doing stuff right and screw up a good thing.

Ape Escape Pumped and Primed, $3.99

Glad that son owns the PSP and PS3, enough Ape collecting for me!
After all this, I might write a review of last Gen Ape Escape versions.

Funny thing is that most games I get from ebay end up in far better condition than anything I find locally.
