I think it's very lame that the japanese game industry is starting to become more westernized, because generally i prefer their style of making games. There aren't nearly as many western game franchises that I follow as there are japanese ones. It's affecting great games like Resident evil, Silent hill, and now Devil may cry..
I wish they just left the western games for the western studios.

The problem I get from Japanese games for this generation is that most companies are trying to come up with something new, but it feels like they are still in the process of experimenting. Technology has improved and there are more tools you can use, so you can't stick to same traditional formula all the time. Western development is more business wise, which means they understand what people like.
I don't know if you guys get this a lot, but there are times when I feel like I am playing the same rpg, action, and adventure games because they share a lot of similarities.
