Trouble with PLAYSega Saturn-style USB controller
Trouble with PLAYSega Saturn-style USB controller
I've been having some issues with a USB Saturn-style controller that I got from PLAYSega. My computer won't recognize it at all, which is odd because when I used it a few months back I never had any issues with it. Anyone know anything about troubleshooting USB controllers? Sorry if I'm not being thorough enough here, I'm just having trouble explaining myself lately due to having four mini-strokes.
Don't want to sound like a noob, but this is just giving me more problems than it usually would given the circumstances.
Re: Trouble with PLAYSega Saturn-style USB controller
It's hard to say. Probably a bad connection, possibly even a bad chip on the thing. I assume other USB devices are identifying ok. The one thing i'd recommend is booting a live CD of some sort, and checking whether it sees the controller. If it can't be seen under a live CD, then the controller board is probably toast.
If you want, I do have a PlaySega controller with a broken D-pad I could send you. I'm not going to use it, as I bought several 1994 vintage controllers after that one broke.
And, jeeze, I hope you get better soon. I know a young guy who had a major stroke a couple years ago He's almost fully recovered now. So keep up with your rehab or whatever they have you doing. It does get better. Make sure to spend plenty of time working on your hand-eye coordination.

Re: Trouble with PLAYSega Saturn-style USB controller
The playSega controller should just be a generic USB human interface device. I say "should" because I don't have one. If a generic USB human interface device isn't working, that implies a problem with your USB drivers. Try updating your mobo's chipset. Go to the website of the company which manufactured your motherboard, and check to see if a chipset update is available.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. Hope you get well soon.
I heard the playsega pads are crapelicious. I wold advize to store them in a forgotten dark place and get yourself some Official Sega USB pads on da bay (don´t worry, they´re cheap). Beware of fake´s. Check out some other threads first.

I tested it out again last night and can't get either computer in my house to recognize it at all, so it must have just died on me. It's weird cause I had it stored in a bin with other controllers, and it worked fine the last time I used it.
Re: Trouble with PLAYSega Saturn-style USB controller
I do have that broken one you can have if you want. You can put my PCB into your controller, or put your D-pad into my controller and have a working Play Sega pad. Well, until it breaks again

Yeah if you don't mind I'll take it.
I'm completely broke, so I'll get to you once I can get some cash together for shipping and stuff.
