I recall a long time ago that I watched the first four episodes of Lucky Star and I thought is was okay. Besides the infamous discussion about food that nearly killed the show for me, I might be interested in revising the show soon (or might even buy the DVDs)
There was one nagging thought I have regarding Lucky star in general. If you go to sites like DeviantArt or Photobucket, you'll find pictures of two of the main girls, Konata (the short, blue-haired girl) and Kagami (the girl with purple hair and twin pigtails) as a romantic couple. Even though I've heard around the rumor mill that romance isn't intended in the show, I just have to ask: would you like the show if it was...
a)... an anime version of Seinfeld with anime references thrown in?
OR
b)... a yuri anime where the show is set in the 3 years (please correct me if wrong) spent in the school as the main leads develop a romantic relationship?
Questions regarding the Lucky Star anime...

Anyway, I always saw Lucky star as what you get when you throw Seinfeld, Family Guy, and Japan into a blender. A total mishmash of casual humor and pop culture. With cute teenage girls. Hell yeah.

Enjoyment of Lucky Star is directly proportional to your familiarity to Japanese culture. The more you know, the more you laugh. It also helps if you gain sustenance from large quantities of cute. Not for everyone, for sure.
Konata teases Kagami a lot, but there isn't really anything substantial going on between the two of them. They're just really good friends. There is a girl named Hiyori, however, who tends to imagine Yutaka and Minami as being a romantic yuri couple.

Would you believe that's the second time I've heard Lucky Star describe that way? Only he described it more calliously...lisalover1 wrote:Welcome to the internet.JokermanJohnny wrote:If you go to sites like DeviantArt or Photobucket, you'll find pictures of two of the main girls, Konata (the short, blue-haired girl) and Kagami (the girl with purple hair and twin pigtails) as a romantic couple.

Pick 2 names of same gender characters from any show or game ever made. There will be fanworks depicting the 2 as a romantic couple. One of the original famous ones was an entire fandom built around "Kirk/Spock". Anime fans are especially bad about it.
No, Lucky Star is not a yuri show.
My issue with LS is that is sometimes seems to be trying to hard to make otaku in-jokes.

Yeah, I love the show, and even I got turned off by the first episode. A shame they didn't put their best foot forward.ZeroAX wrote:JokermanJohnny wrote: Besides the infamous discussion about food that nearly killed the show for me,
