Help me, I think I'm addicted to the internet!

Post by JokermanJohnny »

Ever since I dropped out of my college class prematurely, I've noticed that most of my free time is spent either listening to Queen, looking on TvTropes for useless information or just staring out into space. I try to break out of this funk by watching a couple of movies or playing video games, but the last two movies I watched left me were very time consuming and put me in a very solemn mood after watching (i.e. Apocalypse Now, Dr. Strangelove, and part of The Godfather Part II)

I'm sure that one of you guys has been in a funk like mine, so I must ask if there's any advice for an internet junkie like me. Please help me, fellow forum members, you're my only hope. :(

Do you have anything better to do? I would assume not since you just want to watch a movie or play a video game with time recovered from this.

I would say don't worry about it. As long as you're not letting your real life slack too much, you're fine.

But, as some advice, when I'm addicted to my computer I find something I can do productively, while being on my computer. That way, I don't feel bad about wasting time. I don't mean things like homework or whatever, I'm talking about something like a Flash animation, a photoshopped image, etc.

The most productivity I get is when I plan out ideas for a comic book I want to write in the future. Unfortunately, I work best when I have someone to relay ideas off of, and since I have no car, no job, no college class to go to, and the only "people" keeping me company are my pets and my inner thoughts, I'm pretty much stuck...

This is a perfectly reasonable passtime and isn't at all a waste of anything.

I agree. Maybe we can get a little ZZ Top added to that to round things out a bit.

Ehem. You're on a forum right now. I don't know how good it will do, but if some of your ideas are decent, you should just start a topic in the off topic section for you to post your ideas in.

Better yet, find a dedicated forum.

Another thing you can do while browsing the internet that isn't a waste of time: grow a ZZ top beard.

Protip: The thread is hidden somewhere within Luke's ZZtop beard.
