Worst Box Art

Okay, we have a lot of box art threads, but most are console specific - I can't seem to find one that is just for bad box art in general.

So here goes:

I added Banjo Tooie to my collection only today, which is nice, since I've been wanting to play it for ages having missed out on it back in the day.

However, one thing that is not nice is that box artwork - the PAL version in particular:



Look at it! Plain blue clouds background, generic character artwork positioned seemingly at random - what the hell is Kazooie doing apart from glowering and walking away!? Look how much of the artwork is taken up by nothing! - just plain blue sky background showing through! It's terrible!
The North American box is marginally better. At least the characters fill up more of the space and are smiling at the prospective buyer:

That is pretty crap indeed. I don't think I have to say that the Mega Man 1 box art is horrendous. So first up..

I know all SMS box arts are pretty boring, but wtf is this?



And this is just weird.

It often goes without mentioning, but the Madden coverart is pretty boring. Yea, it's fine. But it gets old real quick. Especially with as many games as their are. It's almost always just a football player on a background. They might as well spend 10 minutes of the time they don't spend on the games working on some new, creative boxart.

Another extra they'd get by changing the boxart, how often do you go through games see that art on the game and put it back. I know that when I'm searching through a bin of games, even if the game is a sports game, if it's not Madden I give it a look.

Seriously, Alex Kidd looks nothing like this. And if they were going to take artistic liberties with him, couldn't they have made him look cool? I just want to punch this douche in the face.

The box. I just think the eyes make it look cheesy. That's all. Without the eyes, it'd look pretty cool.
