Re: NES or SNES?
Yeah, we sort of had a topic like this before, but this one has a more clear and direct title than that one did. I'll just repeat what I said in that thread. The NES is awesome, probably the most important console of all time(Super Mario Bros. saved the gaming industry). However, I like the SNES because many of the NES's classics were upgraded to the SNES with better graphics and sound. I have a thing for the game boxes too
The 16-bit era I view as the golden age of gaming and it also has a special place in my heart for being the first time that consoles were closing the gap between them and arcade games. Though I do miss arcades. I miss the atmosphere, vibe, magic whatever you want to call it that arcades had

Agreed whole heartily. To me nothing can beat arcades. As you mentioned the atmosphere, playing new games, and just making new friends was awesome.Gamerforlife wrote:Yeah, we sort of had a topic like this before, but this one has a more clear and direct title than that one did. I think I was a bit too young to really appreciate arcades when they were around. I do have fond memories though... one involved playing Michael Jackson's Moonwalker with my grandma.

the snes beats xbox 360 any day, it has the best role playing games, fighting games and platformers. besides we all know the ps3 hammers the xbox 360 anyway.slowslow325 wrote:That shit is ancient. Are you guys still living in caves, too? 360 has Madden in HD!

The RPGs are quite amazing even by today's standards. As far as the post topic goes, this is a close choice. Im going to have to choose the snes because of a few reasons:
SSFII Turbo
Megaman x 1,2,3
chrono trigger
super mario rpg
super mario world
final fantasy 2,3
earthbound
robotrek
super metroid
kirby super star
legend of zelda: link to the past
list goes on for quite a while...
Re: NES or SNES?
Were this a poll, I would vote for the NES. Yes, the SNES provides a generally more refined gaming experience, but I've spent a lot more time in my life playing NES and am more familiar with the offerings. Also, I enjoy seeing a lot of gaming conventions emerging in NES games.

What he said ^ I spent the lion's share of my childhood gaming playing NES. So many wonderful memories.

Re: NES or SNES?
I like the both the nes and the snes but I can't really decide which is better.
I love my nes and it has games that I don't have or can't get on SNES, there are even some titles I prefer on NES:
I always choose the NES version of super mario bros over the snes version, but as for mario 2 and 3 I prefer the snes versions because I can save them and they are not the type of game I could complete in one sitting.
I prefer Kirby's Adventure over Kirby's Fun pak (superstar).
I think Rare's NES conversion of Super Off Road than the SNES conversion by tradewest.
I like alot of the games on both systems the nes has the likes of the castlevania trilogy, Zelda, Kirby, Batman while the snes has the likes of super metroid, donkey kong country, Street Fighter II, Magical Quest, StarFox and many others.
I can't pick the better console because they are both very good.
