It was about two years ago when I first heard of them, yes. And of course I've heard of Heinlein... just now.
Forgive me, I'm only 17 (Almost 18).

Ah, it's ok, you're still young. If you don't mind however, I am going to continue wondering what garbage they teach in schools these days.
I'd like to suggest a couple of books to you: Childhood's End, by Arthur C. Clarke, and Starship Troopers, by Robert Heinlein. They're two of my favorites from those guys.

They mostly teach a bunch of stuff like Of Mice and Men and Lord of the Flies. Also lots of Shakespeare play's. I actually enjoy the Shakespeare stuff but the rest bores me to tears. And I'll most certainly check out those two books. Childhoods End in particular sounds really cool.

So I finished Times Eye and started on The Last Wish (A Witcher book) by Andrzej Sapkowski. Also while at the library I picked up Childhoods End on Ack's suggestion. They didn't have Starship Troopers though.

Re: Last book you read?
Being frank, Heinlein is not someone your average layman knows about. Asimov and Clarke are much more well-known. Being frank, I don't know him by name only as the author of Starship Troopers and I have never read anything by him.
That doesn't make him a bad author either just not known to the layman. Most would not recognize Henry Miller either.
The last book I read was "Film directing shot by shot". It's an informative book and what I was looking for. Most books about films I have seen are either crap, glorified encyclopedias with no substance or too technical so I was happy to find this one.
I'm also thinking of reading Scott Pilgrim since it seems it's good and it's going to explode into popular knowledge soon. I prefer not to be spoiled or suffer hype backlash. Haruhi Suzumiya is one of my favourite series of all time but I had to say all the people dancing the same song over and over again hurts and I belive that had I not read it before it got popular I would have never touched it.
Is it pun-heavy? I would prefer to read it in it's original version but I will settle for a translation if the text is just informative.
No examples or spoilers, please XD

Re: Last book you read?
What a coincidence, I just finished reading Starship Troopers. I will say even though its short it was a slow read. It was okay, you could defiantly feel the age of the book with the language used.
I also finished the Dune House prequels by Brian Herbert. Surprisingly his son does a pretty good job of continuing his father's works. Hunters of Dune and Sand Worms of Dune
got me thinking that Brian's work wasn't that bad so I checked out his other dune books. As a Dune fan I recommend them to fill in all those gaps and finish the story. I have already decided I would name my son after Duncan Idaho (my favorite character in the series), if I ever have a kid.
I currently just started Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. I found the trilogy at a goodwill. Its great so far.
On a side note I must mention again (see page 2) that Arthur C. Clarke is my favorite author and would also reccomend Childhoods's End, plus the 2000 series, Against the Fall of Night and Rama series. Stay away from Beyond the Fall of Night, it was not written by Clarke and is just plain awfull.

Trilogy? Ender's storyline is four books, and Bean's is another...what, three?
Anyway, general consensus from the folks I know who've read beyond Ender's Game is that the first book is very different from the rest of the series. My girlfriend enjoyed Speaker for the Dead, but said it really didn't feel like the first. I'm curious what your impression will be when you get there.
Meanwhile, I'm plugging away at a collection of horror stories by Robert E. Howard. I'm an enormous fan of his Conan stories and enjoy most of his work, though admittedly there are a few of his stories I don't care for. Oh well, after this I might seek out the collections of his Kull stories, and I believe there's one of his Bran Mak Morn stuff.
Re: Last book you read?
Just finished The Last Wish. It was really short and that's disappointing because it was actually a very fun read. Not exactly an award winning story or anything but there was a lot of action and sex. So quite fun. Next up is Childhoods End. Looks promising.
