Re: GBA Flashcarts
The EZ Flash IV can be had for under $25 shipped which is not that expensive. Playing on the TV via the GB Player is an experience that the NDS cannot offer.slowslow325 wrote:I've never owned one, but I have to say it's probably not worth it. Aren't they like extremely expensive? You might as well just get a DS flashcart. The DS is more powerful, and you can find a knock off one that works great for under $4 shipped.

Re: GBA Flashcarts
wow loads of replies - thanks!
Unfortunately, being able to find a (non-shady) place selling them is proving harder than I thought, so I might put it on the back burner for now.

Re: GBA Flashcarts
Bought my EZ flash V on Dealextreme.com. They have been pretty reliable, though I am not sure if they have any of the non-DS dependent GBA flash carts.
Re: GBA Flashcarts
I have a couple questions to throw into this thread.
1.Can someone explain what exactly cannot be done with a EZ Flash IV that can be done with an M3 Perfect? Does saving using any game that uses real time save then become impossible on the EZ Flash IV?
2.Is it possible to play GB and GBC roms easily with these or is there some work involved, i.e. is the process for copying the GB/GBC roms from the PC to the memory card the same as for GBA roms? I'm guessing this depends on the card.

Re: GBA Flashcarts
"Real Time Save" is a flashcart feature -- think Save States from emulators. No GBA game would rely on this feature to run, it's purely an extra.robbievgb wrote:1.Can someone explain what exactly cannot be done with a EZ Flash IV that can be done with an M3 Perfect? You can use a Game Boy/Game Boy Color emulator on a GBA flashcart to play GB/GBC on your GBA. If you want the real thing, you'll have to buy a GB/GBC flashcart (like the excellent BleepBloop) to play those games on your GBA. (Assuming of course you have a GBA model that is compatible with GB/GBC carts.) If you only have say, a GBA Micro or a DS, you'll be using emulators.robbievgb wrote:2.Is it possible to play GB and GBC roms easily with these or is there some work involved, i.e. is the process for copying the GB/GBC roms from the PC to the memory card the same as for GBA roms? Re: GBA Flashcarts
1. RealTimeSave - allows you to save at any point in the game. No need to wait for a save point.robbievgb wrote:I have a couple questions to throw into this thread.

2. Real Time Clock for those games that utilize it like Pokemon
3. In Game Reset - Allows you to go to the main menu to play another game without turning it off/on
4. Large SRAM - loads games fast. EZ Flash IV has a smaller SRAM such that games larger than 128Mb need to be written to the NOR flash memory which is very slow to write.
5. Has built-in emulators for Gameboy, PC Engine, SMS, and NES.
On the EZ Flash, you can play GB/GBC games by just getting Goomba emulator and putting the emulator/rom together as one. M3 has it built-in so just copy the rom to the SD card.
