i have done this mod on a US model 2 saturn with the a+b method which took all but 5 minutes to do. With the japanese saturn took me a bit becuase i had to solder the A point to i think 13 pin of ic board or so. and the ground while to where its suppose to go.
Since i do not have a burn jpn region game i used an authentic jpn game and it boots up and works fine. So the question is since the console is hooked up to the modchip and run its normal region game fine does that mean the modchip have been successfully installed?
Also i didnt solder anything this time around because the solder spot are so small and i've already bridge something that suppose to and made the console not work. luckily i was able to get it off . Basically i just used electrical tape and just taped everything into place securely. So far so good and its stable and play the real games good.

Not necessarily. A botched mod chip installation will usually let you play authentic games. You'll have to burn a disc to be sure.

You could just make a quick copy of the game you have to test.

Which one did you do? Does the modchip work?
