yeah this is a big deal! haha. i just feel like i spread myself too thin all the time. i think it'd be better for me to focus on one system and thin a few out. i am gonna put some things in storage though, i think.dsheinem wrote:aaron wrote:i feel like i'm just going to concentrate on my saturn stuff right now. i really do think that would be the best for me. because i have 70+ games sitting on my shelf that i just don't play at all.
i think i will be selling some stuff. that'll give me a nice head start on picking up the saturn collecting (and i'm gonna need a lot of cash to get some of those games, whew...)
You are moping over "70+" games that just sit there?

Put a console in a storage box? How sad. Just because all consoles are hooked up, doesn't mean you have to play each one equally. So what if one just sits there for a while untouched, when you're plugging away on another. Case in point started playing a couple older Dreamcast games after spending last few months on the PS2. May not have happened if the DC was in the closet. Even ended up writing a couple of reviews of Wild Metal and Toy Commander. Believe me that console in the storage box will eventually become a sale later. The sale that will also be a regret later.puke_face wrote:The best way that I have found works for me is to take the games that are tempting to you, games you're not playing at the moment, systems you haven't touched for a while, etc. Put them in storage. Just place them neatly in a storage container, and focus on your part of the collection you've been meaning to. For me, the fact that I see those games makes me think that I need to play those games. Kind of an out of sight-out of mind thing. I can focus on the games in front of me that way, and not get distracted by all the other games/systems. If you sell them, you're just going to regret it, because you'll feel obligated to buy them all back at some point, and probably pay a higher price for something that you have now.
As far as buying new games go, just go without that all together until you have finished your first piece of pie first. You don't have to gorge yourself, just take it in moderation.
Hope this helps.

Re: collection consolidation
Is it the lack of room in your house?
Prime example is me ... look @ my backloggery. I have way to mmuch stuff so I went for a theme. I love CD based games so I almost all my CD based systems out and cart based systems stored. Nothing will ever be for sale and when I move next year everything will be out for enjoyment.
My attitude is I'm collecting for my retirement.

what do you mean by this?h8b1llg8ts wrote: My attitude is I'm collecting for my retirement.
do you mean that you are collecting so that when you retire and have nothing to do you will have LOTS of games to play?
or do you mean that you are going to be able to sell your games and retire early?
if you took a shit, please put it back
Re: collection consolidation
I'm guessing he means for playing. There's most likely no way in hell that he will get enough money for early retirement on games alone. Eh.final fight cd wrote:what do you mean by this?h8b1llg8ts wrote: My attitude is I'm collecting for my retirement.

I have too many crappy games I don't like/play. But I don't want to get rid of them because the shelves look sloppy if they're not filled. I think when I finally have my shelves properly sorted with all the games I want, I'll find a use for those crappy nintendo cartridges.

Re: collection consolidation
Just start a backloggery and see which games you want to play. Hopefully they allow for registrations later. On my backloggery, I have seven more games for me to play and then all my games are beat
.
I never really understood how one can acquire a ton of games and not beat them. One friend of mine has Disgaea 1, 2, and 3 but hasn't beat even one.
On the bright side, its better to have games to play and look forward to then not having any at all.
