Re: I can't do this
I had a blast with VVVVVV! This was definitely one of the more challenging games that I've ever played. Good to know that part didn't kick just my ass...

The game is a lot of fun, but much of its difficulty comes from the loose controls. It's somewhat like Ghouls & Ghosts, where the ludicrous controls create more challenge than the actual levels themselves do. A great example of this is in the above posted video where he passes all the spikes going up, and lands on the platform that reverses his movement. How many times did he overshoot and smack the spikes above? That's those loose controls smacking him in the face. Same with all the instances where he smacked into the spikes going up and down.
I think the game would have been even better if the controls were really tight -- it also would have allowed for some even nastier level challenges, as opposed to the challenges relying on the existing poor movement mechanic.
I know I'm not the only one who feels this way, but definitely in the minority -- most people claim no trouble with the controls, which just blows my wheels. :p
Definitely worth the $5 for anyone who is so inclined though.

I do think the controls are a little loose. Sometimes is hard to tell what the creator was going for. Sometimes it seemed that he just relied on the sloppiness of the controls to make the game more challenging. It does take a while to get used to.

Loved this game. I thought the constant stream of checkpoints kept it from ever getting frustrating.
