Transferring a DS game save to PC

Post by Incognito D »

I hope this is the most appropriate forum for this query, but anyway...

I have the urge to start playing Pokemon Diamond from the beginning again. Obviously, the age-old issue of not wanting to delete all my best monsters has arisen. Rather than spending ages trading them over to my other cart, I was wondering if there was a way to transfer the .sav file to my PC. That way I could even move it onto my R4 and have instant access to that save file any time I wanted, while being able to play a new one on my legit cart.

I found this guide:

...but was just wondering if anyone here had any further wisdom to shed on the matter?

Alright, I don't have an R4, but I was on a Pokemon forum for two years, so I believe this is what you do. (AKA don't take me completely seriously)

Take your Diamond cart and put it into the USB dongle that came with the R4, and copy it to the PC. Then just swap Diamond for the R4 and copy it onto there.

Really, that's only the bare minimum you can do with an R4 and Pokemon. I highly suggest you check out Pokesav; it's a pretty cool thing.

EDIT: After looking at the link you put in your post, probably follow their guide. But you should still check out Pokesav.

I use Rein r17:

"This is the kind of rain that you wouldn't want to go away for sure. SaTa has updated her homebrew application. Rein (previously called Rain) r17, like its predecessors allows you to backup your NDS game saves that are stored on the NDS cartridges. It can also help manage your SRAM and EEPROM for various debugging purposes.

If you want to edit your saved games or just sleep in peace that you have backup with you, then downloading this application is a must. The changelog is in Japanese so excuse the outcome of the translation as it is done using an online translator."

Google.
