Also the game's jews (the darksen I think they were called?) are victims of hostile racism in both sides.
and noooo ack VC doesn't have vampires hahahahahahahaha. How did you get that idea?
VC is one of the best games on the PS3, and one of the best games ever imo. Just download the demo. True you will not get a taste of the more advanced objectives and strategies (flanking hiding ect. ect.) but it is a good start. Also the canvas engine is gorgeous.

I believe it was that in early introductory shots, all the Nazis had fangs, red eyes, and pale skin. And I believe someone referenced drinking blood.
Hey, it was early promo stuff from 2006 or so.

....wa? Strange. The earliest trailer I could find ( http://www.gametrailers.com/video/tgs-07-valkyria-chronicles/25137 ) doesn't have anything like that :S. perhaps you remember another game. Or not. There could be trailers older than the one I found.

Oh crap, I just realized that I forgot to include Disgaea 3 in my rundown.
Disgaea 3 - A FFT style tactical RPG, the main selling point of the Disgaea series is how over the top it is. You can level to 9999 multiple times and damage can get into the billions (with appropriate 1 b. showing up for easy reading). Additionally, the story doesn't take itself too seriously. The plot is divided into chapters with anime-style "Coming up next" scenes which have nothing to do with what's actually happening. The combat system is deeper than FFT; there are things like partners, chains (more successive attacks = more damage), and towers (stacking up people for certain attacks as well as new movement options). There is also a lot of options for power gaming. You can increase the levels of monsters across the board, as well as going into special dungeons designed to power up your items or characters above their normal limits. You can easily spend hundreds of hours powergaming if that's your cup of tea. If not, the main story is a good length and is satisfying on its own.

Interesting. The earliest stuff I remember seeing of Valkyria Chronicles (or Gallian Chronicles, as it was known) was that there were trailers that showed the game on a PSP screen - which was either a mistake, or even the original was meant to be on the PSP.
Re: PS 3 RPGs
Ok, I went out today and picked up Valkyria Chronicles for her, since tomorrow is our anniversary. Hopefully she'll like it. I'll keep you folks posted.

I'm almost done with Valkyria Chronicles [Chapter 15], and I'm really loving the game. All my troops are about level 19-20, so I'm going through everything with relative ease.
