I liked sunshine as well. I got a bit bored since all the stages had very similar themes, but the first 3 at least were excellent. I didn't like the hotel one that much, and the last one, but the rest were great.

On the other hand 64 and Galaxy are better imo, so it's a case of the middle child being very good, but at the same time overshadowed by its brothers.

ok wtf is going on? You all saw Super Mario Land 2 being very low right? well....

http://www.lemonde.fr/technologies/info ... 51865.html

someone screwed up. So people DID love it :D. If only gaming sites gave it the love it deserves as well. (still think it is way better than SMW which sold twice its copies)

now on the other hand, yoshi's island being that low on the list is really sad.

Okay, that is a relief. I was about to say...

Though now I'm surprised that Yoshi's Island sold so little. That game is pretty bad ass. I like it way more than SMW.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

being released so close to Donkey Kong Country 2, and 1 year before the N64 probably didn't help it much. I almost bought it back then. But instead I got a Mega Drive and S&K :D

I'm tossing in my vote for SMB3.

Even after all these years, the game holds up amazingly well. At the time it was revolutionary, not only for the great game that it is, but also the hype and Nintendo-backed promotion that went along with it. I'm aging myself here, but who didn't fork over money to see the Wizard movie just to catch a glimpse of SMB 3? It's hard to explain if you didn't experience it at the time, but the anticipation for this game was incredible

I even remember renting the Famicom version of SMB3 from the video rental place down the street before the US version hit the stores. They rented it with an adapter. None of us kids knew how they got it, but it was so awesome at the time.

To me, Super Mario World is pretty much a 16-bit upgrade of SMB3. There were numerous of elements of SMB3 that went into many other games in the series. Historically, I think SMB3 had the greatest impact of any game in the series, on the NES, SNES and Game Boy.
