you thought galactic attack was easy? do you have super human powers? can you slow down time and see bullets before they are shot?

after struggling with the game for about a week or so, i was finally able to get to the end boss. and that was with the 8 credit code. and the boss owned me in every way, shape, and form. i was somehow able to get to his second form until he shot those bullets that blanketed the screen and i was a donzo. i had no chance.

so does anybody else think galactic attack is easy or am i just pathetic at shmups?
if you took a shit, please put it back

Galactic Attack is a memorization shmup. The first 3 levels can be played on reflex alone. You might even make it through stage 4 with sharper than average reflexes. The stage 4 boss will put you away, however. Everything from him onward is memorization. The game does have a ranking system that can be manipulated by dying, but that will only get you so far if you are going for 1CC. Don't get me wrong, I am not calling Galactic Attack easy. It just isn't as difficult as it initially seems.

Back on topic:

I'm surprised I haven't seen Arrow Flash for the Genesis/MD mentioned. That game is EASY.

The Monkey King for Wii. I 1cced that piece of crap on my first and only play through. You have to play the game backwards after you beat the boss. I can't believe I didn't just stop playing it.

I didn't even use the tilt mechanic either to speed it up or slow it down.

Arrow Flash. LOL

Seriously, after you power up your gun and options, you can just sit there and hold down the fire button through most of the levels.

If you do want to play a Bullet Hell Cave game that's still doable for a beginner you should try the original EspGaluda ( vertical PS2 ) or Death Smiles ( Horizontal Xbox 360 ).
EspGaluda has a pretty deep scoring system but if you play for survival it's not that hard and when you get good at it you can always go for score .

If you want a real challenge and die a lot try Ibara

Easy doujin shmups. These games have multiple difficulty levels, but even the hard modes are pretty easy.

Blue Wish Resurrection Plus
Lyrical Nanoha 2nd
Rozen Diadem

Also Magical Chase (Turbographx, GBC) is extremely easy.

The hard part there is finding a copy and paying the price for them.

PC actually has some of the easiest, most beginner-friendly shmups I can recommend--probably because it was not a genre very familiar to PC gamers. In particular, I would recommend:

Tyrian -- and its enhanced incarnations. It's been released as freeware and has been ported to pretty much everything.

Raptor: Call of the Shadows -- Like Tyrian, this has a gentle difficulty curve and a "shop" system so you can get exactly the equipment you need to help you.

DemonStar series -- Raiden fans will recognize some very strong influence in this game. It's harder than the above two, but one of my ex-girlfriends got started on the genre with the first DemonStar (without any prompting or suggestion from me) and she was by no means a hardcore gamer.
