Great recent score on ebay (believe it or not)

Post by Scooter »

I recently added a new in the box Power Base to my Gen I Genesis with the plan to gather up a few SMS titles that have caught my eye. I'll double dip on this plan by eventually also getting a Master Gear adapter for my Game Gear.

Anyway, I recently took a shot on an auction on ebay and won. In the end I got a set of the 3D glasses, a Light Phaser and six games. I have also picked up a few games locally and separately on ebay. Since the photo on the recently won auction was so poor and the fact that it was put up by one of those ebay stores (you bring it in and we sell it for you) I wasn't entirely optimistic that everything I bought would be nice and in working condition. Sometimes you gotta say, what the heck.

Well, what I got was a set of 3D glasses that look like they were never even taken out of the box. Everything was still wrapped in their little plastic bags and the box is basically perfect, not even a price tag sticker on it. The Light Phaser was unboxed but looks like new as do all the games. The instruction books aren't even wrinkled or creased! And everything works!

I wasn't really expecting much from 20 year old gimmicky technology but I really like the 3D glasses. Zaxxon was pretty cool and Missle Defense lets me use both the glasses and the gun at the same time.

Anyway, the games I've gathered recently include:

Double Dragon
Gangster Town
Marksman Shooting & Trap Shooting
Maze Hunter 3-D
Missle Defense 3-D
Parlour Games
Rambo First Blood Part II
Shinobi
Shooting Gallery
World Grand Prix
Zaxxon 3-D

There are few more gems out there I hope to get such as the Sonic games (ouch! $$).

Gotta go play more Zaxxon 3-D!

congrats on the good buy.

I too was looking to get the 3D glasses and /or a powerbase converter a while back, never ran across the right deal, then other things distracted me.

I ended up getting rid of my Genesis 2 after I got the jvc x'eye, wonder if the powerbase would fit on the x'eye hmmmm

It might fit on the x'eye but I would imagine you'd have to hack it a bit.

I have a gen 2 genesis and since the power base converter is designed for the gen 1, I had to hack it a little to make it fit... I just took a dremel and cut off the back lip and it works on my gen 2.

My guess is the x'eye will require the same treatment.

yeah, just please don't hack your x'eye.

I recommend getting the control stick for the master system. I use it on my genny just for fun, but it plugs into the genesis with no problem and it might make your master system games a little more authentic feeling
