this is a real gem of a game, played it back in the days I had my ps1. It was modded so had access to trying a lot of games. From what I remember it was a short game for a 2 disc game (could be mistaken). Had an excellent 2d animation, it was short and easy but a very enjoyable game.

After I got Heart of the Alien a while back and played through it, I researched and got Heart of Darkness as well. Good stuff. Out of This World was always one of my favorite games. Just FYI, recently Another World 15th Anniversary Edition was released in Europe for PC. Pretty much just an HD version, but I imported it and if you're a fan, I recommend it. Not very expensive either.

If you like Another World you might also enjoy the amiga hit Onescapee. The PC port is offered for free download now. Not the best game, but still a quality game.

walkthrough (You will most likely encounter some frustrating puzzles.)

You can buy it online from Eric Chahi's site.

Well, just a little update. I've almost finished Heart of Darkness and can report that it is indeed a short game. The two disks are full of FMV cutscenes rendered in 3D (even though the game itself is 2D) which probably explains why it is so short yet occupies two disks.

Anyway, I can also report that this is indeed a great little game. It has a cute story line and the game play is pretty solid. The controls aren't the tightest I've ever seen, but they don't often cause any missteps. Similar to other Chani games, the main character can be killed in a myriad of gruesome ways though it isn't really that graphic and unlike OOTW it isn't an overly serious feeling storyline. I could have done without the little boy's voice going "aahhhh!" every time he dies though. Funny, I don't blink an eye when an adult character dies in a game (other than to curse because I now have to start over) but when it's a kid it feels different. If it wasn't done with some amount of humor, the game is rather cartoony, it might be a little disturbing. The unlimited number of continues is a nice feature and the game also has a save-when-you-want-to as well as numerous automatic checkpoint saves which keep you from going back too far when you inevitably get eaten/fall off a cliff/get squashed.

I can't wait to see the ending, I'm coming up on it soon. The in-game graphics are good and well designed. The cutscene graphics have a somewhat choppy framerate which seems a little irritating in this modern age of smooth flowing CGI with fluid-like character movements but perhaps that's part of the retro appeal.
