Neo Geo AES won't power on.

Post by Arbitern1 »

I can't get my AES to power on. I have more than one adapter to use for it and neither work. The circuit board looks just fine. I will click the power switch and the light won't come on inside. I did notice that my roomate had been using my Gen adapter with it 0-0. Any ideas?

I don't have a clue how to fix it, but just wanted to share my condolences.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

I don't have any experience with this machine, but here are some tips.

Do you know what happened when it stop working (important clue)?

If you have a voltage meter you could test the power supply (be careful) . If it is working you could go on to check certain points on the board. A common way is to have a identical machine and compare voltages in nodes starting from the power supply.

Some common problems could be faulty solderings, old electrolyte condensators (looks like small soda cans) or dust generating shortage.

Hope it helps a little bit.

My condolences. Keep us posted on what you end up doing with the AES (repair/sell?), the info might be useful to others.
