Man Sam Peckinpah can make a damn good western can't he? I love the gunfight at the end it's one of the greatest!!! William Holden, Warren Oates and Ernest Borgnine were awesome as well.. Last movie I saw was Sukiyaki Western Django from Takeshi Miike... Dude has made several movies I actually enjoy even though some make you turn away from the most part!!Ack wrote:The Wild Bunch - Man, what a great movie. A gang of aging gunfighters and highwaymen are trying to end their careers successfully while finding that history's leaving their era behind. They accept a job to steal guns from the US Army and give them to a renegade Mexican general, who's receiving some support from Germany in the 1910s The film ends up resulting in a bloody mess that's shockingly violent, especially considering the film came out in 1969.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Have watched a bunch of movies the last couple of days:
Rocky - 5/10 - Have seen parts of the Rocky films before but never understood the hype. Watched this and it felt really dated, and some of the acting is hilarious. Also none of the punches even look like connecting! The montage is good and the Philly area is perfect for a boxing film but I just thought it was all a bit ridiculous, and not in the good Rambo style ridiculous.
Gandhi - 9/10 - Thought this was awesome, mainly as Kingsley is fucking amazing as Gandhi. It's quite long and the end scenes drag a bit but I was gripped for most of it, even having read most of his memoirs.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - 9/10 - I haven't read these books but found this film was excellent. It is a bit hard hitting and graphic (rape and torture bits) but the story and characters work well, some of the acting is superb too. I don't know what it is about foreign films but I always feel their acting is more natural.
Harry Brown - 10/10 - As a Brit, this film was powerful and sums up how a lot of people feel about Britain. Obviously London can be worse than other parts of the country but Michael Caine is excellent as the vigilante setting out to avenge his friend's death at the hands of thugs. A lot of strong language and quite realistic violence, but like The Wire it has to be. Fucking great film!

Saw Resident Evil Afterlife last night and thought it was pretty horrible.

My friends are trying to get me to go see it with them... ugh. I know it's going to be bad - why don't they?Metal Militia wrote:Saw Resident Evil Afterlife last night and thought it was pretty horrible.

Watched part of Robocop on G4. It just happened to be on, along with my parents, brother, his girlfriend, his girlfriend's mother, and my niece (she's only a month old).
And did anyone get my Abney Park reference several posts back?
And I recently DL'ed and burned to DVD...

The user on Cinemageddon called it the last great action movie from Bollywood.
The subtitles, however, don't seem to cover the musical numbers. But then again, I just skimmed through the first several chapters to see if it worked.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
The RE movies have always been good solid tv fare for me. I don't see them in theaters because they are honestly not worth my hard earned money, but I actually get some enjoyment out of seeing them when they come out on tv despite how cheesy they are. They have their moments, enough to keep my attention if I'm sitting on the couch and there's nothing else on, but I can't imagine why anyone would pay money to see them.the7k wrote:My friends are trying to get me to go see it with them... ugh.
