Problems copying Guardian Heroes with Cdrwin

Post by Gamerforlife »

So I've backed up all my Saturn games on my PC with Cdrwin with no problems, but I can't do it with Guardian Heroes. I get this error about it not being able to read some audio sector due to either a read error or bad media. My disc has a few scratches, but they're light. I doubt they'd cause any problems. I even popped the game into my Saturn and played for about a hour with no problems at all.

It this particular game not copy friendly? Or is possible that Cdrwin just doesn't like those tiny scratches. Am I going to have to buff the disc just to get Cdrwin to properly copy it even though my Saturn reads the game with no problems?

It is most likely that the problem is in the disc itself, buffing seems like a good idea, if that doesn't help, it probably won't take long to find and download an ISO

Hmmm, I tried doing it through the make a back option instead of the extract file option. I also fiddled around with the settings a bit. Changed the speed settings and changed the retry count to 10 and it looks it ripped just fine this time. It may also help that I cleaned the disc with one of those cloths specially made for cleaning eye glasses.

Hopefully, I can burn those files onto a CD-R with no problems. I'll get back to you guys if I have any problems(hopefully not). Thanks.

try ripping just the data sector (sector 1) and then rip the audio as separate audio files via some other program like EAC (exact audio copy). Then write your own .cue sheet for it. If you don't know how just tell me the file names and I'll write one for you.

Thanks, but after fiddling around with different options on Cdrwin I was actually able to successfully rip the files last night(see my previous post). I burned it onto a disc and played it and it works fine.

I'm a happy gamer. My original disc still works on my Saturn despite some minor scratches, and now that I have a working back up, I can put the original away on a shelf and preserve its current condition. I was worried about it getting any more scratches or wear and tear if I kept using it. Guardian Heroes is the kind of game I just want to play over and over again.

Thanks for the help
