This game looks super rad, I am surprised I didn't see a thread here. Is anyone else looking forward to this?

Re: Kirby's Epic Yarn
This and the new Prof Layton are two of my most anticipated games for the year

Re: Kirby's Epic Yarn
I'm really hoping it'll feel more like the Sakurai games (Adventure, Super Star) and less like the Shimomura games (Dream Land 2 and 3, Kirby 64)
I don't think either are working directly on this one...

Yeah, I am really hoping for something along the lines of Kirby's Adventure.
Re: Kirby's Epic Yarn
I'm hoping for something new, and not like the others at all .. and it looks like that's what I'll get. No sucking in enemies and stealing their powers, etc.
Absolutely can't wait. Between this Donkey Kong Country Returns .. Nintendo giving some love to some great franchises other than Mario is quite exciting.

If they're going to remove that it might as well not be a kirby game at allirixith wrote:I'm hoping for something new, and not like the others at all .. and it looks like that's what I'll get. No sucking in enemies and stealing their powers, etc.
Re: Kirby's Epic Yarn
Dreamland didn't involve stealing powers.
I got to play this at PAX. Your main attack is you throw out a string of yarn at enemies. If you tap the button you just smack them. If you hold the button you grab them and can now throw them. You can also use your yarn to grab on to the scenery; sometimes it's just moves something, other times it's something you can swing off of.
The game actually seems to take some cues from Dynamite Headdy. The first stage is a tutorial stage that you can blow through very quickly if you know what you're doing; they put various obstacles in your path and then a sign in the background shows you hitting a button and Kirby doing something.
The game has two player co-op, which is what I played. In co-op you can pick up and stand on top of your partner, and the screen focuses on one player or another depending on who is nailing the stage gimmicks. For example, one is that you go into a hole, and then the screen scrolls up and you drop down from the top. It focuses on the first person to go in the hole. The second is you can be shot up with a waterspout, and the camera will focus on that player. If the other player goes completely off screen because of something like that they get put into a respawn mode, similar to the New Super Mario Bros Wii bubble, except you can't control it and you automatically come out of it at the appropriate time.
There also seems to be some kind of score mechanic based around collecting things, but I wasn't able to figure out the details in the demo. I'm also not sure what the health mechanic is, as it may or may not have been active during hte demo; me and my friend are just good at video games so we didn't run into that issue.
