Do all versions of GCN Action Replay need the memory card?
I tried to run a backup of Action Replay but it just said AR Memory Card wasn't detected, so it wouldn't let me do anything. Is there any version of AR for GCN that you can use without the specially formatted memory card?

Which slot did you put the memory card in? I seem to recall that it had to be in slot B.noiseredux wrote:I tried to run a backup of Action Replay but it just said AR Memory Card wasn't detected, so it wouldn't let me do anything. I have run a backup of AR successfully with any old memory card.

so it doesn't have to be an AR memory card, or have an AR file on it?gtmtnbiker wrote:Which slot did you put the memory card in? The newer purple Action Replay doesn't need a memory card to run. Undocumented SD Launcher.
The older AR came with a memory card, but any memory card with the old AR save file on it will work. AR memory cards are crap, good idea to backup up that file to a GC Nintendo memory card. Older one also allowed code entry and SDLoad.

I just used a regular memory card. It didn't have any sort of AR save file on it.CRTGAMER wrote: The older AR came with a memory card, but any memory card with the old AR save file on it will work.
The version I used is: Action Replay 1.14b

I have the older AR, and I can use it without the memory card just fine. Although, I remember it having trouble without the card one time, but now I don't have that problem.
