This is so true i cant believe i didnt mention it. It take about 30 seconds of playing on xbox live to prove this right. Hopefully the players who started with the third installment and typically didnt buy for the campaign will hae "grown up" for lack of a better term, and so the community can be alot more like it was in the Halo 2 days.darthmunky wrote:I think a big part of people thinking Halo is overrated is because of the Halo players. Most of them are douches who give a bad rep for all Halo fans. They don't like it for the plot, music, artwork, gameplay, etc. They just want to "pwn some n00bs" and then brag about it and talk about how "Halo is the best game ever". The true fans are the ones who don't even care about miltiplayer and have been playing since the beginning.

Re: Halo: Reach
Well, considering I just had a massive gaming session (IE 48 hours - I love getting 3 days off midweek) with my buddy where we played through 1-3 in co-op back to back. I'd have to say I don't want to play a Halo game ever again. Those games frustrated us no end with the amount of stupid dumb crap that would happen. AND FUCK EVERYTHING about that fucking Warthog race at the end of Halo 1. FUCK. That took nearly a fucking hour to do that because stupid shit would happen almost every single fucking time we would get to that final fucking jump. ARGH.
Completely not worth the effort. Fuck Halo Reach.

I take it you haven't played the end of ODST? It surprises me how little the driving gameplay has improved in these games. The controls in the first one are arguably the worst in any FPS ever.Niode wrote:AND FUCK EVERYTHING about that fucking Warthog race at the end of Halo 1. FUCK. Re: Halo: Reach
I don't even own it. I think I was put off by Halo 3. Whichever idiot that thought those controls were good needs shooting. The complete fucktard at Gearbox that thought the controls were good enough to include in Borderlands needs shooting. Twice. Why, just why? The controls are fucking awful.dsheinem wrote:I take it you haven't played the end of ODST? It surprises me how little the driving gameplay has improved in these games. Re: Halo: Reach
The driving part at the end of Halo 1 is actually my favorite part of the whole game series, lol. I used to play just that level like every day. Halo 3 had almost the same ending too, except the actual floor tiles beneath you would fall if your not fast enough.
Re: Halo: Reach
I have to agree with Ack's sentiment. Halo is a competent shooter. However, it falls into the same category as FF7; it was a ton of people's first introduction to the genre and consequently they think it's the best thing ever. However, what really bugs me about Halo is it caused the genre to do a major shift over to consoles, and ruined Deus Ex Invisible War in the process.

Re: Halo: Reach
I enjoy the series. I dont think they are amazing or anything, but I have had alot of fun playing the game through out the years and keep them in my collection because they are fun with friends. Ive gotten to that point in my life where I dont have to play to win in everything I do, so while the games may not be the greatest, I still like running through them in coop with a friend.
I just refuse to pay $50+ for most of the games released. So Ill pick up Reach once it drops in price. Ive yet to buy ODST for that reason. And to be honest, Id much rather play Borderlands than Halo nowadays.

Apparently, they're saying that Reach has the best graphics ever seen on the 360. Thoughts?
Re: Halo: Reach
I worry that once again graphics will end up the focal point while gameplay will be entirely overshadowed.darthmunky wrote:Apparently, they're saying that Reach has the best graphics ever seen on the 360. Thoughts?
Again I'm thinking of you, Crysis.
Re: Halo: Reach
Replaying that lost hour in Halo 3 made me cringe time and again. There's not one thing about the game that would make consider any of its sequels.
I still tell PC fanatics that Crysis was more about visual fidelity than gameplay prowess, but even that is a far better game than Halo1/2/3/ODST.
