How about General Chaos?

You don't think that would take too long?
Re: Help me pick a tournament game
I don't think I saw it in your collection, but I think that Rampart would be a good tournament game if you're wanting to stick to head-to-head brackets. It also has a ton of ports even though I don't think a lot of people have played it.
Otherwise, I'd vote for Tempest 2000 on the Jaguar, though I've never played it myself. The downside to that one, though, is that it's harder to set up a bracket system using a score-attack or time-attack mechanic. I guess you just cut the bottom half of the field after each round. That would allow you to still have multiple rounds.

When's the event? I could lend you a 7800 Ballblazer if you want.

Hmmm, maybe. I'll let you know. Thanks!

I have Rampart on the Midway collection for PS2. Is it easy to pick up and play? Quick vs. matches?
Re: Help me pick a tournament game
I think so. It was, after all, originally an arcade game. You might want to play a demo match first for all of the participants. There are a couple of rules that wouldn't be obvious in a pick-up-and-play scenario, but they'd be obvious after a demo game.dsheinem wrote:

For example, you HAVE to completely enclose a space with walls to claim the area.
And yes, matches can be very short. I think a single vs. game would be around three minutes. You could make it best two out of three if you wanted individual matches to be longer. Note: I've only played the SNES version.

Re: Help me pick a tournament game
It's a cheap game, and I actually just ordered a couple more to harvest the POKEY inside. So I'd be happy to send one off to you for a while. Check out some gameplay on Youtube, pretty smooth for an Atari console. It's almost as cool as MIDI Maze.
I was going to recommend MLB for the INTV, but I didn't see one in your collection. You should attend to that.
Rampart is a pretty good idea too. It's one of those minute to learn, lifetime to master games. It is easy to pick up and start playing, and it moves pretty quick, but someone with some experience will out strategize and wipe the floor with a noob. It does get awfully intense when you're evenly matched though.
