modchip for my pal saturn?? newbie

Post by RCduck7 »

Hi there,

I'm from Belgium and new here.
Good work on this informative site!

I have a few questions though.

Does the modchip that is for sale on the site work on a PAL saturn??
I have a black saturn with oval buttons and MK-80200-50 at the back.
Is that the easy one to mod??
Should the mod be the same as in the modchip guide??

Hi,

you look to have a Model 1 PAL Saturn (with oval buttons and led access light), which are notoriously more difficult to mod than the Model 2 Saturn (Pal designation 80200A).

It is the harder one to mod, but it is possible. Personally, I would just hunt down a Model 2 Saturn as it will save you a lot of pain, but if your good with a solder and electronics by all means give it a crack.

But just an FYI, the region (PAL, USA, JP) doesn't really matter for chip compatibility.

With a model 1 you may as well just do the swap trick really.
