Yay, my time to shine!

Do you have a Zune 30, 120 or HD?

That is Microsoft's official encoder, it allows conversion of all media that is playable on your PC to the standard Zune MP4 format. There are different templates for each device allowing you to convert for better quality or smaller sized files.

For DVD to Zune directly, this may not be the software for you (as this software does not allow DVD ripping, that I know of). You may want to try FairUse (a pay program), and keep in mind that iPhone convertors work well with MP4 conversions

If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

Nice to know i'm not the only person with a Zune. 80GB and a screen great for movies and TV while on the road. The software really sucks though. And the decision for it not to be compatible with Windows Media Player really pissed me off. I was thinking managing playlists and such would be as easy as it was for my old 512 MB Sandisk, boy was I wrong.

What I did with my iPod was to copy all the songs on the DVD to the hard drive, then import them into iTunes.

I'm not sure if that would work with a Zune but it may be worth a shot if you can't find anything else.

Alright, I have the first gen 30 gig zune. I tried HandBrake with no luck, and with DVDfab it looks like it would work great, except you have to pay for it. Something I forgot to mention I was looking for preferably was a free one. You would think Microsoft would come up with a simple way to do things like that, but then again, they are Microsoft...

I'm still looking at this site. So basically from what I'm gathering, I'll need to rip the dvd first, then look to this program in order to convert it to mp4, then upload that file(s) to the zune?

Handbrake, handbrake handbrake. Seriously. Best free ripper/encoder out there.

The only thing that I've used that is faster is Adobe Media Encoder, but I don't think that's free as it came with my copy of Adobe Premiere CS4.
