I never played video games until SNES/GEN era. I primarily played my TG16 and my Atari Jaguar.
In the next generation i went saturn all the way.
Owned a dreamcast next but also picked up a used N64
Bought an Xbox at launch once the DC was discontinued.
Picked up a 360 at launch and it is still going strong.
What were your primary consoles of their respective generation?
What was your primary console in each generation
Re: What was your primary console in each generation
I've never had the money to stick to the different generations.
late 80's -mid 90's: NES
mid 90's - late 90's: SNES
Early 2000's: PSX
Mid 2000's: PS2 / Gamecube
Present Day: Dreamcast / Wii

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: What was your primary console in each generation
2nd Gen: 80% Atari 2600; 20% TI-99/4A
3rd Gen: 99% NES (played some SMS, C-64)
4th Gen: 70% Genesis/Sega CD; 29% SNES; 1% Turbografx-16 (ONE guy who was a friend of a friend had one. Bonk was fun)
5th Gen: 70% PS1; 15% N64; 5% 3DO (had regular access to one! Mostly played NFS, Road Rash and Gex); 10% Saturn (initially owned one, but traded for PS1 about FFVII time. I loved it, but nobody had any games to trade with me and rental shops stopped carrying Saturn games. I was addicted to Daytona and Dragon Force back in about 1996)
6th Gen: 60% PS2; 30% X-Box; 9% DC(Sonic and Shenmue mostly); 1% GC (didn't have much reason to use one, except missing Mario/Zelda)
7th Gen: 70% PS3; 29% Wii; 1% X360 (not region free and RRoD made me go the PS3 route. I only play 360 if my friends have it on when I visit)
3rd Gen: 99% NES (played some SMS, C-64)

Re: What was your primary console in each generation
early 80's - Atari 2600
mid 80's - Commodore 64
late 80's - NES
early 90's - SNES
mid/late 90's - owned them all (N64, PSX, Saturn, even a Jag); didn't really like any of them
early 2000's - Dreamcast
Haven't bought a home console since the DC, though I'll probably get a Wii someday.

Re: What was your primary console in each generation
Yeah, this is a good topic. Something different
Well, let's see, I'll do this the way Breetai did I guess, minus the percentages
2nd gen: Atari 2600, I didn't have many games for it though, mostly played Popeye and Space Invaders. I wasn't serious into gaming until........
3rd gen:Played a bunch of NES games, though I used to play Colecovision at a friend's house, but that's a 2nd gen console
4rd gen:Bit of a toss up here, I showed my Genesis and SNES equal love. I can think of games on both consoles I played over and over again
5th gen:Playstation by far. I have a HUGE PS1 library and maybe a little more than a handful of N64 titles. I didn't get into the Saturn until long after it was dead
6th gen:Sony wins out again with the PS2, though not by such a wide margin as last gen
as I did buy most of the well known Dreamcast games and had a decent sized collection of stuff for the Xbox and Gamecube too. Still, my PS2 collection vastly outnumbers all of that
7th gen:Definitely the 360,though I've recently become more interested in the PS3 than the 360. If portables count, this is really the only gen I got seriously into that and I have a bunch of PSP titles

Re: What was your primary console in each generation
The funny thing is I got a saturn way back in 1995 before the PS was released... I was a Sega fanboy at the time, but once I got the PS on christmas of 96, my bias changed forever!!! I still miss my Saturn with a passion though!!! Nothing could play Street Fighter Alpha 1 and 2 better!!!Gamerforlife wrote: 5th gen:Playstation by far. Re: What was your primary console in each generation
(2600 era I was forced to game on an Apple ][ - fun games though, some...)
NES/MS - NES
SNES/GEN/TG - SNES
N64/PS1/SS - all 3
GC/PS2/Xbox - tie, GC+PS2
Wii/PS3/360 - Wii
Though I never had an Xbox 1 or 360 nor MS.

(FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)
