My Thoughts on 3DS Price

Post by Anayo »

This is hypothetical.

$200-175 - Tempting, but I'll wait for it to drop.
$175-150 - Will probably buy close to launch.

What do you think?

Ditto to your pricing, under $150 (highly doubt it) and I'd buy it on launch day.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

I'm going to be getting it at launch no matter the price, though it will be interesting to see how they price it.

You're right, all I can think of are Resident Evil, Shin Megami Tensei, Metal Gear Solid, Bloodrayne, Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, Saints' Row, Assassin's Creed, and Tom Clancy, so I don't know where the mature-rated games are, either.

Anyway, I will be getting it at launch, and I'm going to be reserving it ASAP. I plan for it to be my first launch night "campout". I have a feeling that ~$200 is a fair price for the system. Anything more, and Nintendo will have some serious marketing to do to convince people.

I'll be buying it at launch too, but I doubt I'll be buying it if it's much more than £130. Hopefully it's not over 100 though.

I'd pay up to $300 for it. My guess for its launch price is $225.

I wish I could get it, but I don't have any money at all. So, I don't really care what the price is at launch.

By the end of this month the DS units will be:
DS Lite: $130 (No Price Drop)
DSi: $150 ($20 Price Drop)
DSi XL: $170 ($20 Price Drop)
The Wii costs $200 and comes with Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, and Wii Motion Plus.

Just looking at that information it appears the 3DS is going to be launched at a $200 price tag. A moderate step $ wise over the DSi XL but not more than the Wii console... I would be very surprised if it is over $200 because the portable system would be more expensive than the home-based console which has always been superior and offers more content right out of the box. The only thing I didn't like about the DS is the frequent revisions of the portable near the end of its life cycle; it makes it look like they were trying to milk as much money out of old hardware as they could. The DSi came out about 1.5 years ago, the XL came out just under a year after the DSi, and it looks like the 3DS is shaping up to easily come out less than a year after the XL. Three different versions of portable hardware in less than 2 years... although the 3DS is an entirely new portable with beefier hardware.
