What's goin' on people?

Wrapping up a weekend long Metroid / Donkey Kong Country marathon with a pal from out of town. We were much better at DKC when we were kids...
I'm thinking that this 16-bit match up might just work. We could even have something like limited speed run contests or something. Say, tell people to practice the first world of Donkey Kong Country 2 and at the meet have the game on a few monitors. Let every one start at the same time and see who can beat the first world the quickest.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Sounds like a good time.
mugenmidget and I were talking about possible console vs console games in relation to the 16 bit meet.
I really want to do a round-the-clock Secret of Mana if we're going to do a 16 bit wars meet.

The NeoGeo is welcome anywhere. I would find a valid excuse for it at a 1/2 bit meet.indecks wrote:Does the NeoGeo count as a 16bit console? It was also marketed as a 24 bit instead of 16bit but it was basically a 16bit machine.

Anyone here have an AES to bring? I just have a Neo25 cab, not a home cart console.

I don't think anyone in this group has one. I'm sure we will accumulate more attendees as time goes by. If the cab is mobile, you are more than welcome to bring it!

Yes. It would be quite epic.

I know I voted for 16-bit Wars, but I was looking into the possibilities if Dreamcast won....and, how convenient, Racketboy has a Dreamcast multiplayer game guide.
I was reading through it and it sounds like a lot of fun games. I missed out on the Dreamcast around the "Y2K Bug Crisis" time period so this would be all new to me. Also, it's nice that many of the games are 4 player, so more people can play at once.

Yeah, I had forgotten about that list.
A lot of the games on it (as of now) are pretty easy to obtain.
-Re-Volt would be awesome.
-I have two keyboards and mice, so FPSs can be played the way they were meant to be played. I don't own them, but I could walk down the street and buy Quake III and Unreal Tournament for around $10 a piece. I already have Outtrigger.
-Hell yes to Bomberman Online.
-We might be able to dig up a Power Stone 2.
-I have a burn of Propeller Arena (the only way to get it) and it's as great as they say.
-I have a disc with all of the Beats of Rage games worth playing on the Dreamcast.
-Soul Calibur is a must.
-I'm sure someone will bring along 3rd Strike and MvC2.
-I know where I can get a Mark of the Wolves locally for $35 (import).
-I know where I can get a KoF 99 Dream Match locally for $14 (import).
-Gigawing 2 has a maddening 4 player mode. I think Hobie might have it.
Shit guys, we have a meet right there. Almost everyone has a Dreamcast, so systems would be cake.
I know where I can get two actual arcade decks for Virtual On. I also know someone locally who could mod them both with Dreamcast/Saturn boards so that they could be used to play Virtual On: OT. It would probably cost around $150 to put that together.
