This list is pretty much dead on. I see you mentioned imports though, and if you have interest in Yakuza 3 (which is great) you should look into Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan. It's quite text heavy though. There is a very extensive guide at GameFAQs that should be able to direct you to do nearly anything. It's just like all the other Yakuza games (Ryu ga Gotoku is the name of the series in Japan) but it takes place in the 17th century Japan, so you play as a samurai. You actually play as Miyamoto Musashi, and the game creates a super romanticized version of the Musashi story.

I thought we already mentioned many oddball PS3 games.

For a recap, here's all the off-beat PS3 Exclusives (well, exclusive in the sense that they aren't on the Wii or 360 - some are on the PC or Mobile Devices) that are worth your time: Demon's Souls, 3D Dot Game Hero, Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea 3, Yakuza 3, LittleBigPlanet, ModNation Racers, Katamari Forever, PixelJunk Series, Critter Crunch, Flower, Joe Danger, Super Stardust HD, Everyday Shooter, Shatter, Comet Crash, Trine, Echochrome. All these games should scratch your itch for off-the-wall, unique gaming experiences.
Ahh the PSN games! They never seem to get much coverage. I've only heard about half of those when they were released, then nothing after that. I just can't get over how I've seen every retail title mentioned except for Disgaea and Valkyria Chronicles sitting on the shelf in Walmart.
This has been a big help guys. I'm not totally decided yet, I'll probably end up buying at least half the games mentioned at some point. It's just a matter of what order to buy them in.

I can't believe how few people have mentioned Fat Princess. Easily one of the best multiplayer PSN exclusives.

Played it, didn't much care for it. Matches seemed to take way, WAY too long, with little progress ever being done. Basically just a constant back-and-forth with just about every match ending in a stalemate - your opponents have to consist of epileptic rag-dolls in order to score a decisive victory.

kind of agreed with the7k. I also LOVED Battlefield 1943. I loved it. Played it for hours, got all the achievements, WITHOUT TRYING (though I don't remember if they were that hard to begin with).

But EA sucks, the have abandoned it. They have too few servers, so it takes about 10 minutes at times, to find an open slot, and no new maps that we were promised.

Also Bad Company 2 sucks.

Personally I'd go with Uncharted 2. Sorry I didn't read your thread. The multiplayer is brilliant, as is the actual game and best of all, you don't really need to play the first. It's kinda like James Bond. You don't need to have seen the others to enjoy it.

I'm partway through the campaign an have been playing some multiplayer. Love it. Much better than BC1 and even MW2. I'm curious - what's your gripe?

I bought it thinking it will be like BF 194X.

The game isn't as generous with vehicles and I didn't like all the sniping. The maps in 1943 make it hard to be a sniper, but in BC2 with all the bottlenecks it is a piece of cake to kill people as a sniper.

What is this sniper you talk about? I've got around 75 hours plowed into the multiplayer and I've never even seen a sniper class. Do you mean Recon? Well, actually, it's not a sniper class. Yes, you get a ghillie suit and you can use sniper rifles, but the point of the Recon is to spot. Hence the name.

People who snipe on BC2 aren't actually doing anything to benefit their team. The good recon player is the one who spots enemies on the battlefield helping his team mates take them out. If you're a Recon and your finger isn't fucking glued to the Q/back/select button then. FUCK YOU. You aren't doing your fucking job. I don't care if you've just spent 5 minutes setting up the perfect marksmen head shot "WOOHOO OMG +400 points for one kill" Yeah, great, you've just provided absolutely nothing to your attacking team, and just one measly ticket. When I've just spent 5 minutes spotting 10 people, half of which got killed, I've taken 3 people out who attempted to disarm the mcom and then ran up behind an enemy tank and C4'd the shit out of it.

Put simply, if you're sniping in this game, you're just wasting your time. If there's one guy who is repeatedly camping and sniping me, I make sure that I spot the shit out of him, If I don't shove a rocket up his ass/counter snipe, somebody else will. With the guys I usually play with, camping snipers don't last long.

For some reason, on certain rush maps, I find myself using the G3 with upgraded explosive C4 or mortar fire.. I know I could use the exact same pack as assault, but I love killing people in what looks like a teddy bear suit(aka gilly suit)... I do snipe, but I have the spot scope and only do it on open maps where I can either provide defense or offense for my teammates(maps with tanks help also)... I get irritated when I spot basically the whole team and my offense, or defense are still getting slaughtered, so at that point I either play as assault with the m16 or medic with the Uzm and join in with either getting beasted, or actually changing the momentum of the game... I usually use the engineer class on maps where I'm playing defense and I know that the points are limited with narrow paths in which I can lay out anti-tank mines.. Once you put 2 mines in each path in a good spot, you rack up a bunch of kills of idiots who try to rush the point in vehicles..
