A story to make you think

Post by Flake »

I read this story at destructoid (though it's surely all over the web) and it really left me wondering if I could make the same choice as Brian Wood.

All I can say is the man had some major guts to make a decision like that.

tl;dr version: Strung out assholes crashed a car into his. Brian Wood purposely swerved so he would die and his pregnant wife would live.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

You'll never know what you are capable of until the need arises.

Maybe I'm just naive, but whenever I read a story like this, the first thing I think is: "Was there nothing else he/she could do? Did he/she have to die?". Still, his act was heroic.

Wow but how sad that it could have been avoided if those idiots hadn't been on drugs.
Thanks everyone...

i guess that is a natural thing to do,
otherwise , it would be like he chose to kill them right?
its either him or them?

Maybe he didn't think he will die, just get out with a fracture?

I have thought the same thing, but if a car swerves into your lane and you literally have just a second to react there's only so much you can do. He made the ultimate sacrifice and should be highly regarded for it. I hope that I would have the same courage should a situation arise that required it.

He probably pondered that question very thoroughly while the Chevy Blazer approached.

Given how big a Chevy Blazer is, I doubt he thought for a second (because that's about all the time he had) that he would live.

I'll probably follow this story as the woman who killed him (and her own two friends) is processed through the legal system. I want to know her side of the story.
