actually i think a PM would be a little more harsh. nothing like a personal, private "shut the fuck up" to really welcome you to a new forum.

i don't even really read many threads anymore, so it didn't really bother me. i didn't even really notice. personally i like when old threads get bumped, because it's usually a catalyst to really, really funny things. like this thread.

I think this is more a case of the poster not knowing how to efficiently read forums.

Show new posts.
Then when you click on a post that looks interesting. Do not click on the link. Click on the last page! Then see what is exactly new!

Our new member did nothing wrong. Then again I do not look into every post!
Welcome new member, do not be upset by one or a few members that feel ticked off!

Most of the times there are people complaining about duplicate threads and tell noobs to use the search function. This new member did just that! excellent behaviour! 8)

The forum I mainly visited before I came here had a similar thread once, about me. It wasn't my first or second week there, and I was posting in just about every thread. I wasn't bumping ancient thread, but just posting every where. There were a lot of threads to catch up with, but yeah, I might have been trying to raise my post count a little. Not that my posts were nonsense, I was actually posting my thoughts.

Some one actually started a thread, with the title being my user name, and said I was posting too much. There was a ridiculous amount, like 50 in one day. They said "quality over quantity comes to mind."

Any who, I contributed a LOT to that forum over the years. I had guides and mp3 uploads, and helped out with loads of tech questions. I was one of the few members that was left standing before the site went down. And if it ever relaunches, I might be a moderator/content approver/contributor.

Ok, a few things:

1. When he started I took an interest in reading through his posts. The amount of them and the usually short responses made me suspect he might actually be a bot or spammer, but after going through a few, everything was actually relevant to the topic, though not always the most informative. I checked his ip to verify his country, saw it wasn't one of the usual places we get spammers from, and figured he's probably just a guy getting used to the ropes.

2. I waited to let him finish his barrage of posts, come back today, and what do I find? He's now uploaded an avatar and a signature, his posts are becoming longer, and his punctuation is improving. In other words, he probably came onto the forum thinking it was just like everywhere else, then having viewed how we type on here, he modified his language and is genuinely working towards becoming a member of our community.

Personally, I think that's great. I'm glad someone new has joined us, and I hope he becomes a regular member.

With so many knowledgeable members here, Racketboy has a lot more to offer then just the latest top five favorites. Waste of some real meat and potatoes, discussion. Maybe might get some decent banter outta this comment.
I think it is good to bump an older same topic thread. better then having multiple posts covering the same stuff all over again. Just like all the redundant "Tell me how to spend my money" posts.

I think I did that in the B/S/T the other day. Man I love dreamcast stuff.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

No problem :)

Also, I'm glad to see you are playing front mission 3 because I LOVED it!

Haha, uh, well, er, you see, we have a thread about what RPG we're currently playing in the RPG forum in which I go into detail, but unfortunately I'm having trouble forcing myself through it. Front Mission 3 is a solid game, but I guess I've dragged it out too much, and it now has become a chore for me to play it. But we'll discuss this in that thread.

So....don't make duplicate threads and ALSO don't bump the old threads. It is becoming a very welcoming environment around here. You must come up with something that has never been discussed apparently.

I mean it was a little excessive I admit that but still he was just filling in the blanks from missed time.

BTW, welcome to the forums Bradtemple87.

Brad has gone crazy and bumped everything! Kind of interesting, at least. Welcome! Glad to see your an adult with a job and bills to pay instead of an annoying guy asking a billion questions that a simple google search could answer and forgetting everything he's learnt about grammar.

Ha, yes I do value grammer.
