I recently played through it for the first time. It was okay. The game wasn't very deep and got a bit boring at times. The battle system, while kinda cool, is pretty linear in execution, especially since you could only have one robot out at once. Most of the normal battles were very easy, but I found I almost always had to level up to be able to beat the bosses. The soundtrack, while unique, got annoying really fast (especially the battle music), and had a relatively small number of tracks. The story was also a bit lacking. Also, for a game which seems to put an emphasis on customization, there really wasn't as much as I'd hoped. Sure, you could build your robots, equip them as you please, and distribute their stats as you please, but in the end both my robots (I never bothered building a third) had pretty much the same stats and equipment, due partially to the fact that the cap on stats was relatively low, so I was able to max defense and power with both my guys by the end.

As I said, its not a bad game, and I did enjoy it, but ultimately - and I hope I don't sound like too much of a fanboy here - it just doesn't stack up with the Squaresoft SNES greats.
I'm known as ZebetiteGlitch or Zeza Von Thantos on other platforms.

Wow, that was very in-depth. I think the reason I am so attached to the game is the nostalgia factor. I got it as a gift when I was really young and I loved the hell out of it. When I play it now, it takes me back.
