how about a racketboy podcast?
Racketboy, you have some excellent articles and an impressive knowledge of retrogaming. if you want your forum community to grow how about a weekly retrogaming podcast. you already have many discussion topics prepared (defining games, hidden gems, cheapest games) these could be you first topics or continuing segments or expand on forum descussion/topics. there not enough quality retrogaming podcasts and i think you could make a quality addition.
Yeah, this topic comes up every now and then...
If this was my only job, I would jump on it, but I just don't have the time to do recording, let alone editing and all that.
Maybe once I get more of my writing goals done with and have less time devoted to that.

i would assume you could enlist the help of your forum moderators to lighten your workload. so many podcast come out infrequently with large gaps in between, you wouldn't have to pressure yourself into a strict schedule and they don't need to be long in duration just something quick and easy at first to establish yourself. i think it would be a success.

you could have game reviews or discussions and have your ebay links tie-in showing products featured on your current podcast to generate more interest and revenue from you listeners by clicking those links. just a thought, i don't know if that is actually possible.
just out of curiosity is your day job game related?

I'm not allowed my my advertisers to disclose income levels, but I can say its enough to pay for all my expenses and development for new features, but not nearly enough to live on
My day job has nothing to do with gaming. I'm essentially a data jockey and system admin.
I like my day job, but it would be nice to have more time for the site.

That would be nicenocturnalnerd wrote:Ok I understand I was just curious. I figured if it was not enough to live on or you would be well living on it.
Actually, this is probably the first year the site itself has turned a profit.
The store makes me more money than the advertising.
Of course, the store doesn't take nearly as much work
So.... if I was only in it for the money, I would be sticking with the store. But I love the rest of the stuff too much

Re: how about a racketboy podcast?
Mega bump. I believe I responded to a similar thread but I cant find it, so this one will do. I'm still kind of interested in something like this. Once a month or something would be fine. There should be enough retro topics popping up each month to work with.
