Anyone else think 3D technology will fall on its face?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Plasmas are superior to LCD in every single way.

Ok, LCDs consume less power, but image quality plasmas are leagues ahead. Deeper blacks and massive contrast ratios, faster/clearer images due to the technology (image is processed as fast as the image processor runs). To get LCDs to respond faster manufacturers have to overdrive the pixels which causes lower image quality due to lack of precision.

@octopod, I'm saying that only an idiot would buy something more expensive for no other reason than 'it more expensiver, it gots to be betterer!1'
QFT !!

Having owned a Sony 1080p 60" a Jvc 720p 56" Lcd and a 1080p 42" Samsung Lcd I thought I was an Lcd fan all the way.

But my Sony went out and I had to buy a new Tv. Went with a Samsung 58" Plasma. I will NEVER go back to Lcd. The colors are much better on the Plasma and the blacks are INCREDIBLE. No motion blur whatsoever either. And yea no "burn in"..... stupid myth still perpetrated by the Lcd companies to hurt Plasma sales IMO. LOL

Long story short. Go Plasma if you are a fan of having the best picture possible.

IMHO 3D is nothing more than a gimmick. Something shiny to distract from bad game design and to attract fad-followers. I won't be buying any game or gaming system simply for 3D (I'm looking at you 3DS). In fact I will make a point of avoiding any game that puts large enough emphasis on 3D to make the actual game seem less important in comparison (I'm looking at you Killzone 3).

3D will eventually become the norm, but only when glass-less TVs become as affordable as HDTVs of today. All this talk about consumer electronics proves how empty people's lives are (/forgive me)

Nintendo added much more to the 3DS than 3D. Just because its name implies that doesn't mean it's true.

*cough* wider screen, gyroscope, accelorometer, slider pad, etc. *cough*

I'm saying that if I decide to buy one it won't be for the 3D, it'll be for the games. I'm not saying all it has is 3D.
