Looking for anime recommendations...

Post by MrEco »

I use to be really in to anime but recently a lot of variables have come together that make it impossible for me to spend the amount of time required on the computer to watch anime. I could watch anime if it was in DVD form so I'm only gonna be interested in things available for DVD purchase.
I've already got my eye on buying Trigun and Wolf's Rain (Have seen a small amount of episodes of both but yet to have watched whole series). Some anime I've liked in the past have been Code Geass, Death Note, They Are My Noble Masters, and Spice and Wolf. I'm hoping for great high quality anime like those. Also, ecchi and moe anime are very welcome indeed. In fact I have my heart set on buying one or two ecchi/moe anime a long side the others. Problem is that my actual knowledge of what moe/ecchi anime is out there is very limited. I've heard that Green Green was good (Though never actually watched it myself) and I enjoyed To Love-Ru quite a bit but got bored like 2/3'rds of the way into the series because it had so many filler episodes (Also while it was very comedic it wasn't heavy enough on the ecchi elements in my opinion. Occasional nudity and lots of pantie-shots please.).

Thank you in advance. Any recommendations will be appreciated.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm not only looking for anime with fan service. If you have an idea of a really good anime without any ecchi/moe content that is fine.

I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

Trigun is very good. FUNimation is reissuing it this October in an affordable thin pak. They have tons of videos on their video portal that you can watch many shows for free online! http://www4.funimation.com/video/ Chances are many recommended shows are done by FUNi and could be found there. You can browse around and find something good that i up your alley.

Well, if you want echhi mixed with action, you can try Negima. I haven't watched much of the anime, but I have read the manga a good bit. From what I understand, you should avoid the 2005 TV anime series (which indeed seemed boring as hell from what I watched of it) and instead go for the 2006 Shaft-produced TV series called Negima!? (which seemed a lot more entertaining from the little bit of it I watched - not to mention a lot more fanservice.)

Aside from that, not sure. I'm not much of an echhi anime fan, Negima just happens to be one of my guilty pleasures. You could also try Highschool of the Dead, which seems to be quite popular and is almost as much about panty-shots, bouncing boobs, sexual innuendo and yuri fanservice as it is dispatching zombies in extremely gruesome ways.

Finished with DeathNote, good show, wish they would continue considering they had some creatures that had a small role. Bleach is pretty good series considering it has ghosts, monsters, samurai, and blood.

Im in the same bandwawgon, don't know what anime or movies should I watch next. Can anyone find this "the great horror family" for free to watch? just watch Brother film.

Oh yeah, if you want moe fanservice, there's always Strike Witches. I dunno how it is, as I've never been terribly interested, but it might be up your alley.

i usually assume people have already seen Gurren Lagann, but I might as well mention it just in case. I also have a soft spot for Haruhi Suzumiya, but again, I assume most people have made up their mind about that series.

For non-fanservice anime, the best there is in my opinion is Kino's Journey. Allison & Lillia should also be good, but I've only seen one episode thus far. I know it's not what you were asking for, but I'd feel dirty if I didn't mention it.

Although they're older, Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are both tip top Fullmetal Alchemist also.

If you want something short, silly, and ecchi, try Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-Chan. It's really random, but it's fun.
