Gameboy advance oddity?

Post by Flake »

My gf just bought an old original model Gameboy Advance from an amazon.com seller. The thing looks pretty good. Needs a little cleaning. Still has the film on the game screen...

...which brings me to my question. The screen, instead of saying 'Gameboy Advance' on the bottom says 'For Advance'. I've checked the serial code on the back- it's a US model. I've never seen this before. Have any of you?

My guess, is that it is a replacement screen or the unit is a china knockoff!

Yea, I'd say it's just a replacement screen from China.

Looks like the screen was replaced, that's all.

Well that gave me a good laugh.

Yeah, like everyone said, it looks like a replacement screen. That would also explain why there is still film on it after all this time.

That's probably the best bootleg I've seen, then. The screen looks absolutely perfect...except for the whole 'for advance' bit.

Turns out the thing has a few too many problems so it's going back to seller anyway. Thanks for the input, folks!
