sega mega drive 2

i just saw a sega mega drive 2 at a local retailer for $40. is this just a genesis that is imported from japan? what can it do that other sega systems can't?

Shouldn't be anything special about it save the region coding and the RF output capabilities.

ok, that's pretty much what i figured. if i actually had money to burn i would probably buy it just to add to the collection but i'll pass at this point. thanks for the reply.
