Shenmue II versions

Post by Scooter »

Bascially my question is, is Shenmue II on Dreamcast basically the same as Shenmue II on other consoles? This past summer I found a PAL version of the game to play on my DC and I'd like to have a guide book to go along with the game but the only guide books available focus on the XBOX or PS2 versions.

Not many differences, except for the english dialogue on xbox and that you can hack your Shenmue1 savefile to continue on Shenmue 2 on the DC, most of the differences are small details, but check out a partial list here:

So I take it the game play and the storyline remain the same.

I didn't know that Shenmue 2 was released on the PS2. Infact I thought microsoft had secured sole rights to it. Have been wrong before though... many times.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

My mistake, I thought it was on PS2 as well. My interest here is concerning the strategy guide and if they book written for the XBOX version would be useful on my Dreamcast import version and it sounds like the answer is yes.
