So my Wii doesn't power on anymore. I tried plugging it into different part of house & still no go. What's the chances of bad AC adapter?
Any other ideas to try?

Trying a different AC adapter is my recommendation. Hopefully it's easy to find one to temporarily borrow.

When you plug in the AC Adapter does the power light turn red? If no light goes on at all then it's most likely a bad AC Adapter.

Yeah, nothing comes on at all.MrPopo wrote:When you plug in the AC Adapter does the power light turn red? If no light goes on at all then it's most likely a bad AC Adapter.
My GF has a Wii too -- I'll borrow her's later this week if I can't figure this out.
I thought maybe I could use a GC one, but it's just a slightly different plug. Why didn't they just use the same one? It's SO similar!

If you have a multimeter, plug in the power supply and then make sure that the you're reading 12 V DC on the output.
Apparently, it's fairly common for the fuse to blow in the power supply. If you can solder, and don't mind mangling the thing, you CAN replace the fuse yourself.

Yeah, that fuse goes bad a lot. Which, despite what it sounds like, is a good thing. Power surges/lightening strikes blow the fuse usually and NOT the console.
If it boots using your gf's, just go ahead and get a new one. Yes you can fix it, but if you don't enjoy stuff like that, it's kind of a pain in the ass.

Wii AC's have a breaker, AND a fuse.
Just unplug it and let it sit for a good while then plug it back in. 99.9% of the time it's just the breaker that's been tripped and all you need to do is unplug it let it sit for a day or so and retry later.
If you're still having problems after all that though look into getting a new AC or repair from Ninty they're awesome at dealing with stuff like this fast and are extremely polite.

This is Nintendos recommended solutions: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/system ... /power.jsp
I actually had this happen before so I ordered another adapter from Nintendo for about $10 plus shipping. Turns out my adapter was just fine after a couple of days... so if you need it Racketboy... I have an extra I would be willing to send to you for the cost of shipping only. Let me know if you need it!

If your wii is not modified or homebrew then I believe Nintendo can help you. I remember getting a Nintendo wii for the first time it worked except the disc drive was not working. sure after that Nintendo fix it. you can either fix the problem or sell it.
