Classy :)

Anywho, I look at it as I would grades
5 star = A
4 star = B
3 star = C
2 star = D
1 star = F

makes sense to me
Now imagine if it was on a 4.0 scale (ala GPA)... ugh...
10 star = A+
9 star = A
8 star = B+
etc.
plus, minus, .5, a-half -- all that shit is for indecisive people.

That means that you only have 5 options. 1 2 3 4 or 5. Only the rare PERFECT game should ever get a 5, so only 4 choices. 123 and 4. Absolutley terrible games get a 1. So there are only 3 choices for the average game. 2 3 and 4.

The problem is, when I rate games I base them on comparisons. I have a mental scale. With only 3 in between choices, I feel terrible rating Contra and Super C both 4, when I know Contra should be higher than Super C.

Why the heck would you have a system with only pluses and no minuses?

All ratings should be on a twelve point scale.

Let's put this into proportion

There are great games, there are terrible games. Now, for every great/terrible game, there's several mediocre games. It's not a 3 (2,3,4) to 2 (1,5) ratio.

One of Star Ranking System's most loyal advocates is known to have remarked, "Arriving at a true state of comprehension is too difficult and/or time-consuming." And there you have it: a direct quote from a primary source. The significance of that quote is that Star Ranking System wants to address what is, in the end, a nonexistent problem. What does it think it is? I mean, if it could have one wish, it'd wish for the ability to attack my character. Then, people the world over would be too terrified to acknowledge that when Star Ranking System stated that it's perfectly safe to drink and drive, I concluded that it was totally loopy. Now that it claims that everyone and everything discriminates against it—including the writing on the bathroom stalls—I think that it's crossed the line into post-rationalist neo-Hegelianism. Okay, there's no reason for me to be unbalanced, so I'll leave you with this concept: I have always lived my life by the mantra, "A good person will call your attention to the problem of stentorian scamps".

If you are going to relate them to your standard school grading scale then why does it matter. If 9 = A- (or B+) then 4 1/2 would also equal A- (B+)

So it is the same score...just different ways to say it...

Conclusion: It does not matter
